We have just completed our visa interview in Jerusalem, after our medical in Bethlehem. My Russian fiance was turned away and told to come back with his curriculum vitae, research papers he contributed to in college, and work experience (beyond what we already provided). Me and the co-sponsor for the affidavit of support met the income requirement for a household of 3, but they said my fiance would be considered a 4th dependent (?) and we did not meet the income requirement. However, they saw my fiance's current income and determined with his income, we do meet the income requirements, they just want more proof that he has the academic and vocational qualifications to find work in the US. So lesson learned for you all, bring your college diplomas, curriculum vitae/college course list, research papers you did in college, and extensive work experience... Because apparently they might want this... Still grateful it wasn't a direct denial but DANG Jerusalem is expensive! We will have to come back again! Can anyone direct me to a thread or tell me what the process of acquiring more documents is like? It sounds like we can mail the needed documents, and come in person with the passport later.

I just logged into NVC's application page for the first time after my lawyer has paid all the fees for NVC already. At the top I am seeing: | VISA CLASS: | CR1 | | YOUR CASE IS CURRENTLY AT: | NVC | | FOREIGN STATE OF CHARGEABILITY: | RUSSIA | | INTERVIEW LOCATION: | TBILISI | | PRIORITY DATE: | 07-JUN-2022 | I see the interview location here is Tbilisi, Georgia although we indicated Warsaw on the application. Does this mean NVC has already assigned the interview location and it will not otherwise change? We were planning to transfer to Kazakhstan like so many others anyway but I am a bit confused if this indicates NVC has already determined to transfer our case. A bit odd but we were married in Georgia but hold no legal residency there. This is positive news I guess? Separately, is there a way to check how quickly Tbilisi processes/interviews immigrant visas? I see B1/B2 appointment wait times are at 280 days.... does that indicate I should try to transfer to Kazakhstan for a quicker interview appointment anyway?

Hey all! I have petitioned for my Russian parents to obtain IR-5 visas as I am a US citizen. Now we are required to submit police reports for them from everywhere they lived starting at 16 y.o. and my parents used to live in Kazakhstan when it was part of USSR and some time after USSR fell apart. It seems that the online platform for obtaining the police report (http://Egov.kz) requires an ID that only is assigned to Kazakh citizens, which my parents are not. How can they obtain the police reports without those IDs? Many thanks!!

My fiancee is a Russian citizen who's been living in Serbia for over a year. We know that we need to get both police certificates (Russia and Serbia), but we're not sure what the expiry is for them. She has not been back to Russia since leaving, so that certificate will be valid forever, correct? The Serbian certificate has a 90 day validity on the document - does it need to be uploaded to the NVC during those 90 days, or does the 2-year expiration policy from the State department take precedence? We're mainly asking because we have literally no clue how long it'll take to obtain the Serbian one, as there's no instructions online for how a non-Serbian-Citizen living inside of Serbia can obtain one. It could be difficult to obtain a facially valid certificate for the NVC without causing a delay for our case. (We're aware of the official reciprocity schedule, but it only has sections for citizens, "non-citizens who once resided in Serbia, and are now in their native country", and "Non-citizens who once resided in Serbia, and are in a third country now".) Thank you!

Hi everyone, I've read the threads about needing to print out, hand sign and rescan the i-864 form as a PDF, but what about other documents like translations? For example, I have PDF files from a translation agency that are editable in Adobe Acrobat (meaning I can select "Edit PDF" and all the text fields become editable). I'm assuming the NVC will reject those kinds of PDFs. I can restrict editing in Adobe Acrobat, though. The document will be openable and readable, but editing will require a password. Will the NVC reject it for being "password-protected" if I do that? Is it best to print out all the PDF translations and rescan as new PDFs? Thanks
