Hello! My fianc was adopted when he was like 2 y.o. Due to the problems with his adoptive family he doesn t even know anything about his real parents and also his last name before adoption. So, there s a requirement for i-129f to give them evidence of legal name change. But we just simply don t have one. What do you think?

Thank you

The Moscow embassy, probably in addition to many others, still has not resumed any K1 interviews and the website still says they can't resume any routine services and don't know when they will.

How long can they really stay like this? After nine months, wouldn't they be at least trying to open by now? How long can this go on? Just wondering, I know no one really knows, just looking for hope

I-130 For Mother - PLEASE HELP

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone is doing great.

Please help me out with the situation described below:

I filled I-130 Petition online for my mother back in May-2020, however the case is still pending and I didn't receive either approval or rejection.

When checking for processing times on the website it says that it takes 7.5-9.5 months to process it. As of today, 12/07 there are still no updates in regards to my case.

I am wondering if it Is because of COVID-19? Should I start worry?

Also, my mom lives in Russia, but she has U.S. Tourist visa, and she just came to help us with the baby for few months, and I was wondering:

1. How long in advance will they call her to the interview in Russia? We need to make sure we get her back to Russia by that time

2. Is it possible to schedule an interview in U.S. in case she is still here when the application is approved?

Should I even think about doing that or its a hassle and its easier to just send her back to Russia for the interview?

3. What are the next steps after I-130 application is approved?

4.How long should the whole process take?

Thanks for all your help guys!!!

Appreciate it!

Got this message from the Embassy today regarding USC's currently in Russia:

Travel Alert U.S. Mission Russia (December 1, 2020)

Location: Russia, country-wide

Event: December 15 End of Russian Migration Extension Period

The Russian Government-ordered extension period on visas and legal admissions to Russia will expire on December 15. This order extended the validity of visas and admissions to Russia that expired between March 15, 2020 and December 15, 2020.

U.S. Mission Russia is unable to predict if another extension will be granted. All U.S. citizens present in the Russian Federation whose visas or admission periods are set to expire by December 15 are encouraged to begin planning their departure. There are multiple international flights departing Moscow weekly, and a limited number of direct flights to the United States.

U.S. Mission Russia does not have the authority to intervene on migration overstays, and individuals who overstay their visas or admission periods, even by less than one day, are subject to a fine, deportation, and a five-year ban on reentry to the Russian Federation.

Please visit this link for further information about the current extension granted by the Russian government (in Russian).
