Got this message from the Embassy today regarding USC's currently in Russia:

Travel Alert U.S. Mission Russia (December 1, 2020)

Location: Russia, country-wide

Event: December 15 End of Russian Migration Extension Period

The Russian Government-ordered extension period on visas and legal admissions to Russia will expire on December 15. This order extended the validity of visas and admissions to Russia that expired between March 15, 2020 and December 15, 2020.

U.S. Mission Russia is unable to predict if another extension will be granted. All U.S. citizens present in the Russian Federation whose visas or admission periods are set to expire by December 15 are encouraged to begin planning their departure. There are multiple international flights departing Moscow weekly, and a limited number of direct flights to the United States.

U.S. Mission Russia does not have the authority to intervene on migration overstays, and individuals who overstay their visas or admission periods, even by less than one day, are subject to a fine, deportation, and a five-year ban on reentry to the Russian Federation.

Please visit this link for further information about the current extension granted by the Russian government (in Russian).

passport options for dual citizen

OK, so my wife has her oath ceremony on Dec 2. At which point she has to turn in her green card. We wanted to take a trip out of the country on the Dec 28th. even if we submit for a passport and expedite it, we are not sure it would make it back to us on time.

Options

1. Wait for US passport. If it doesn't arrive on time, have a family member Fedx it to us. Can she exit the US on here foreign passport?

2. Purchase the tickets. then try to get an appointment at a passport center and get a passport within 2 to 3 days. I did this years ago when I needed a passport. had it the next day. but I'm sure covid has jacked that up as well. ( would have to use her foreign passport info to buy her ticket )

Anybody else ever been in this spot?

Questions about n-400 form

Hello everyone!

Preparing to apply for naturalization and couple of unclear moments popped out.

Question 1. What if I not only study at a University but also work there as a graduate assistant at the same time, and this is my only occupation? In this case, filling out a section about my job, should I include both separately denoting the same time period? Or should I choose something out of these two?

Question 2. Applying for n-400 ONLINE in the first several days when my 90-day window is opened, will I be safer (since the system wouldn't let me apply if it were too early) than applying by mail? I've read some cases on VJ when people had to reapply because they sent their packages on the second day of their 90-day window.

Thank you very much for all your suggestions!

How long to get an interview date from NVC (Russian beneficiary)

Did a Google search and found a CEAC reference that it is typically 4-6 weeks from the point of all documents submitted and qualified(DQ'd). Anyone have any recent experience to share their timeline?

VISA CLASS: IR1

FOREIGN STATE OF CHARGABILITY: RUSSIA

INTERVIEW LOCATION: MOSCOW

PRIORITY DATE: 21-JUN-2019

I am the petitioner, US citizen, born and raised here. She is the beneficiary/principal, Russian citizen, my legal wife of 3 years, immigrating to the US.

I've read almost every page of this post thread before asking this question.

Finally got the DS-260 and all the requested tax forms, civil documents, affidavit of support, paid all fees (AOS & IV) and then accepted on November 5th 2020, just a few weeks ago.

My big question is any idea how long before you might expect to get some sort of a reply with your interview date in Moscow Russia after all your requested documents are uploaded and accepted?

My Russian wife (married 3 years now) still living in Russia wants to come to the US again in January for a month and then return to Russia to prepare to immigrate to US if/when her visa is approved. I seem to recall that travel plans should not be made prior to the interview, but I don't recall the specifics. Is it that you should not make plans before your interview date is communicated, or after it is communicated?

If it will be several months before the interview date is communicated and then another 4-6 weeks later the interview is conducted, I would think it would be OK to bring her here 1 more time (3 previous visits) before the interview date is announced.

So my secondary question is are there any guidelines regarding the beneficiary's travel to visit with her US citizen spouse prior to the interview date being known?
