Visiting US while waiting for I-130 approval

Hello,

My husband and I are in the process of submitting our I-130 paperwork, but we are wondering if he would still be able to come visit me in the US for a family event once we are waiting for the I-130 to be approved. He is from a visa waiver country (Ireland) so we are unsure if we should wait to submit the paperwork until after the event in May so that he can come visit for a week or two or if we should go ahead and submit the completed paperwork and still book a flight for him for that date. Does anyone have any experience with this? We want to submit the paperwork as soon as possible to get the process started, but we also don't want to spend all this money on a flight if he won't be allowed to fly. I hope this question makes sense. Thanks!

Hi everyone! After a bit of back and forth we finally got our NVC approval letter We went ahead and scheduled the medical, but the first appointment wasn't available until May. I know it's become the case where the interview date occurs before the medical is complete - but I just had a few questions..

  • Roughly how long does it take for the NVC to come back on a confirmed interview date?
  • If the interview is before the medical appointment, does the embassy hold onto your passport?

Thanks a mill!

Hi,

Just wanted to write on here for all those people who can t get a medical before their interview date and are stressing (me up until today!). I am in that position and today I anxiously attended my interview in London. It all went well, it was quite busy and I had to wait outside in the rain for a little while but once inside it wasn t too bad. They weren t too phased that I hadn t done my medical yet. They gave certified a copy of my passport for me so I can take it to my medical next week (they asked me for a copy so make sure you have a copy with you).

They only question they asked me during the interview was how did you meet your husband?(I m applying for a CR1).

At the end of the interview they gave me a document to say that my visa was refused based on no medical results but explained that as soon as they get the medical results through they will complete my visa process.

So don t stress, go to your interview and all should be well!

PS they also told me that the police certificate is now valid for two years instead of one, news to me and could have saved me getting another certificate but oh well!

I have a question about the I-130A form. We are doing an adjustment of status, but the address history is puzzling me a bit. My husband is currently living with me, before that he lived with his sister in Ireland and then another address before his sister to span the 5 years.

Do we put my address at the 1st, his sisters at the 2nd and the previous in the Last place lived outside the US? It is confusing since he hasn't lived anywhere in the US but with me.

Hey everyone, i am looking for some answers and advice regarding the affidavit of support I -864 that my husband needs to fillel out.

When we first applied for the K1 on the I-129F, My husband was working full time and making approx $50,000. Since then he has returned to school and working part time reducing his income to approx, $12,000, putting us below the poverty guidelines. I was readding about using his assests which he has (he has the difference times 3). Has anyone went with the assests route before? Is it stricter and what documents are needed etc?

Also when filling his taxes for '21, he was briefly unemployed and claimed benefits. It says before filling he needs the 1099G but unfortunately the Ann Arbor department doesn't have it ready yet.

I'd love if someone could advise us?

Thanks so much
