US Immigration from Ghana

Hello All,

I was hoping for a bit of guidance here on my question. I have already applied for my mother under an IR-5. Our case has been documentarily qualified at the NVC since last February. However, we are still waiting for an interview at the Accra embassy. I am a grad student and so I do not earn an income. My husband and have I always filed taxes as Married Filing Jointly. But, I am graduating and it would be beneficial for us to file Married Filing Separate for student loan repayment purposes.

I do not earn enough to sponsor my parent alone at this time and for the foreseeable future. My husband exceeds the income requirement for our household size and we already submitted our I-864 and I-864A with tax filings where we filed jointly. At this point, can we file taxes as married filing separately for this tax year, and would this cause any issues with the approval for my mother at her future interview? We have not filed taxes yet for the 2024 tax year. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My fianc is from Ghana and lives in Ghana. He was able to get his Ghana Police Certificate. He lived in Uganda for more than 6 months 20 years ago. He needs a Police certificate from Uganda. How can he get one without going to Uganda. I researched online, it says there is an online application, but then you have to come to Uganda in person to do the fingerprint. He can't go in person to Uganda. Is there a way to do it Ghana?

DS-160 completed today. We tried to pay the visa fee and schedule the embassy interview on the site www.usvisaappt.com as directed from ustraveldocs. K1 is not listed under non-immigrant visas therefore I cannot move beyond choosing a visa category. Is anyone else having this issue? Am I looking in the wrong place? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as our approved petition expires 2/28/2025. Thank you in advance.

Am writing on behalf of my son who s immigrate visa has expired two years ago . He went for the interview got the visa but because of his academic work and he was also selected to join a national under 15 basketball team so he couldn t relocate to the United state . But after two years he has decided to come to the United state but his visa has been expired. My question is where should he start from ? Should we start everything afresh or contact the nearest embassy if he can reapply .
