Hello everyone! I am a bit confused about the DS-260 and the question about my primary occupation. I m working in an office in full time currently, nothing special. There s a list full of occupations and I just chose others , is that correct? Also, I was wondering, if I don t have to provide any previous jobs from the last years? And then there s another question about what I want to work as in the US, and I again chose Others and wrote down Office job/Administration job , is that alright? Thank you so much

I had my naturalization interview today. When I walked in to check-in, the front desk lady couldn't find my name on the list. I was asked to sit down anyways and I got a bit worried. 10 minutes later, an officer called my name and as soon as we walked into his office he told me they have not received my file. We went ahead with the interview, I passed the test, questions were asked, he spoke with his supervisor and still no file. Has this ever happened to anyone? I wouldn't be as worried if I didnt fly for the interview from Germany (military husband), wasn't pregnant and didn't have to fly back home tomorrow. I was told they will give me a call when/if the file shows up but until then, they cannot approve me. Now I am sitting in my hotel stressing over what to do - change my flight? fly back home? This really sucks!!

Dear forum my children received their LPR status end of Dec 2021. Given our special circumstances, they became US citizens upon being allowed into the US. Their green card was delivered to our family but not their SSN/card. The kids received their US passports in mid-March through the US consulate in Germany, the green card was mailed back to USCIS after receiving their passports but their SSN is nowhere to be found so far. It has neither arrived in the US despite answering the DS 260 question accordingly, nor was the card mailed to us in Germany after seeing the representative at the US Embassy in Frankfurt and applying for the SSN card again. Now, I am not sure why it takes that long and it is somewhat stressful at this point as we haven't filed our taxes yet. Is there anything we can do? We are returning to the US this summer and my husband is leaving before us but it will still be too late for our taxes, plus I am not even sure if he can go to the SSN office without the kids as they are above 12 and he is the stepdad. I am also on a super quick 24h business trip to Boston in a few days but again, I wouldn't have the time to wait for hours at the SSN office nor would my kids be able to come along. Calling and emailing Frankfurt doesn't work. We haven't received a response and the phone line just plays an automatic message. Any advice, suggestion or experience would help us a lot.

Hey there, My husband (USC) and me (CPR) are planning a 2 week trip to visit family in Germany. From reading previous forum posts, I'm 90% sure that I will be able to travel abroad and come back to the US just fine with only an I-551 passport stamp, but I was hoping someone could give me a piece of mind. Backstory: I came here on a K-1 visa; we got married; filed for AOS; received green card. Turns out that our green card had a 10 year validity date, although we were married for less than 2 years at the time we filed for AOS. We sent the green card back to USCIS in June 2021 (filed a free I-90, indicating USCIS error), and since then I don't have a physical green card. We will be filing for ROC this summer and want to go to Germany after we filed. We are planning to travel in September (and be back before October, when my green card would expire - had I received a 2 year green card..). I made an info pass appointment at the local USCIS office back in October 2021, and got an I-551 passport stamp, evidencing permanent residency for 1 year. My understanding is that while my I-90 case is pending, the I-551 stamp in my passport is sufficient to travel internationally and return to the US (as long as I return before October 2022, when the stamp expires and coincidentally also my green card should expire if we get the replacement card in the meantime). Could someone please confirm if this is correct, or if I need any additional documents besides the I-551 stamp + passport to board an airplane and be let back into the US? Do I maybe even need a new I-551 stamp after we filed for ROC, since that happens before we travel? I.e. does filing for ROC change the status of the I-551 passport stamp in any case? Thank you so much!!

Hi everyone, I hope this is the right place for my question. So my husband and I got married in the US in 2016 and I came to the US in 2019 on an IR1 visa. I never changed my passport to my married name because my hometown requires the spouse to be present for that and we didn t have the opportunity for that. My IR1 visa was issued in my maiden name to match my passport and so was my greencard. The officer at my interview told me that I could later change my last name by filing an I90 form. I would now like to change my last name to my married name on my greencard. I started looking at the I90 form and understand that I can change my name if it has been legally changed since the current greencard was issued. I m confused because my marriage certificate was issued in 2016 and my greencard was issued in 2019 so technically nothing changed since my GC was issued. Can I still use the I90 for with my marriage certificate to update my last name or are other steps needed to get that done?
