Hello everyone, my husband and I just got married in the US and I got back to my home country in Germany. We are now planning to apply for the CR1 visa, but I have so many questions. First of all, we chose that I will change my last name to my husband's, which is also stated in our marriage certificate. In order to change my name in Germany I have to request a change of my last name which is apparently only possible if my husband will come with me to the german offices to sign the documents. But since he is still in the US, I was wondering what to do. Should we use my old name for the application, since my maiden name is still on my passport, etc. And if so, is there any chance to get my name changed while the process is ongoing or is it just gonna cause confusion, I heard the name on my Greencard has to be the same name as on my passport. So just stick with my last name for now? I am avoiding to wait for husband to visit me in Germany to change my last name with him because this might take another few months and we wanted to start applying asap. Or do I have to change my last name first because it is on the marriage certificate? I really appreciate your time and hope you can help me!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else had this issue with the consulate in Frankfurt/ the panel physician in Frankfurt. I had my interview on august 29, everything went well and I was told that as soon as they receive my medical report I will be sent my visa. I asked beforehand if it is ok to have the medical exam one day later and was told by the consulate that that s fine. Now I still have not gotten my visa, I keep getting contradictory information. Apparently there were technical issues, so the panel physician had to resend it. The new version had errors, so it was not accepted by the consulate either. I called the physician, they told me that everything is fine with the medical exam. I keep seeing people getting their visa after a few days, which makes all of this so much more annoying

I have just gotten an RFE for my husbands divorce degree and am now wondering if NVC checks everything and sends out all RFEs at once or if they trickle in. I am fairly certain that due to a computer hick up my employment history is not complete and therefore expected an RFE. So now the question is: would they have addressed it with the RFE for the divorce or will there be another one? Thanks in advance for your answers.

For the NVC stage, I was wondering if we can combine the translated police certificate document with its original in one PDF document, or if we should upload the translated document separately and the original separately? Also for the proof of domicile, I wrote a letter that lists the steps I have taken to maintain my US domicile and included supporting documents for this. Is it okay to upload all of these supporting documents in the same PDF file under the proof of domicile letter or should I separate each supporting document on the list and upload each separately? I read about others getting RFE's for combining some of their financial documents, so I am wondering if this applies to the other documents that I have mentioned here?

Hi all, I have a theoretical question regarding CR1 Process and K1 Process, and regarding CR1 the I-130, Question 45 following. Theoretical Question regarding foreign national currently living abroad and thinking about future with US citizen, living in the US: I heard the K1 visa takes quite a while until you get employment authorization etc. afterwards. The CR1 however takes also a while, but once you enter the US, you can work etc. right away. To my knowledge it is possible to use a visa waiver like ESTA, to go to the US and get married. I know it is not recommended to just stay in the US and file for adjustment of status. What if you travel to US to get married to an US citizen, on visa waiver, leave the country to go back to your country/job/etc, but file I-130 together before leaving? Would you answer Form I-130 questions 46 following with "class of admission" "WT" and just copy the info from the I-94? Technically, you entered the country under visa waiver, got married, and would not overstay but return to your country. Is this acceptable or are there any concerns with this, as it seems to be the most efficient way if both parties want to keep working etc. until paperwork is done ? Thank you all, CW
