I-130 approved but I-824 required

Hi,

good news and bad news. As the title says my I-130 has been approved but now the USCIS ask to fill and send an I-824 to know what US Consulate we have to go through...

I have understood the processing time is like 9 months? that's huge and also another $500-ish fee, the basic mistake costs a lot of money :( I wish they just asked this during the RFE and not another form to fill out.

Any people went through this?

Hello,

we got asked to send an I-130a (spouse) and we forgot to fill out the contact information section where it says phone number if any - email address if any.

However in the I-130 we already have written the spouse phone number in the appropriate field. I don t really understand why they ask these infos twice (on each form)

Are these info really used? And should we be okay?

thank you

LPR with valid GC returning to the US after styaying abroad three years

Hello everyone,

I'm French, married to a US citizen, got a K1 visa in 2018, got married quicly and got a conditional 2 year GC a few months later, applied for removal condition in 2021 and got my 10 year GC in may 2024 without interview, but nobody knows (I was in France then).

I'm still married but the problem is that we finally couldn't maintain our US residence and moved to France in 2021.

We have to go to the US next week for family reasons but just for a short visit (20 days), absolutely not to move back to the US, we have our return ticket.

I already traveled back and forth from US to France with my first GC, at the arrival the only simple question they asked was "how long have you been outside the US ?", it was 2 weeks, 4 months... then they just stamped my passport and "welcome back" without checking anything more.

When I will be at the CPB desk shall I try to lie if they ask the same question (I`m very very reluctant) ?

Is it easy for them to check my past trips (I don't know what they have on their screen).

Otherwise I`m ready to volonteerly file the i-407 form, no problem, but will they let me in for a limited time signing the i-193 (paying fee) or paroled ?

I worry they can send me back immediately.

Any experience of that ?

k2 visa - follow to join - ceac status still on ready

Hello everyone,

I don't know if I am overthinking or getting worried for nothing ...

My 18 year old daughter went to the Paris embassy on May 29th, for a follow to join k2 visa (we got married last November 2023), the interview went fine, she got approved and was told she would get her k2 visa within 2 weeks.

It has almost been 2 weeks.

The Ceac status is still on ready, and they worked on it on May 31st, and June 5th.

Since then, nothing. I sent them an email and they replied the consular officer is still reviewing her file.

Is she in a backlog? I know they have a lot of work, since the embassy will be closed during the Olympics.

They got all the necessary documents and most people getting their k1 interview on that day already have their visas issued.

Am I overthinking? Does a k2 visa take more time, because mine got issued in just a few days last September 2023.

Has this happened to any of you?

Many thanks for your help and feedback ! :)

Green card holder staying abroad more than two years

I have a valid 10 year green card (based on marriage) but my wife and I moved back to France 3 three years ago and never travelled to the US during this time. I never applied for abandoning my status, but due to bad health problems of my wife's mother we decided to visit her this summer. I guess it`s too late to fill the I-407 form from France and then get an ESTA. I read that I can fill the form at a port of entry (but I'll have to pay about 500 USD, unfortunately). So my questions :

- Is there a chance they let me in without any question (it happenned to me some times) ?

- Do they check when my last trip to the US was (how would they react if I lie) ?

- Should I rather ask directly for filling the I-407 form ?

- In the worst case can they refuse to let me in ?

Thanks for advice or sharing similar experience.
