Event Description

Embassy Review : I as the petitioner joined my husband for his visa interview at the U.S. consulate in Paris on 5/21/25. The security staff were kind and they required us to check any electronics (including our phones) with them and gave us a lanyard with a card attached so we were able to pick up our electronics on the way out. I brought all the required original documents plus everything we had submitted just in case. We waited in the first line to review our documents with a staff member for maybe 40 minutes or so, and the staff then ensured we had all the original documents needed, my husband's medical had been received and was within the needed timeline, etc. and gave us a ticket with a number on it. We went to the lobby of the consulate to wait for maybe 10 minutes and our number was called. We went to the window we were called to and the agent asked which countries my husband had lived in and verified his criminal clearances were on file for those countries. She asked if he had been married before and he said no but that I had, and she asked for my original divorce decree. I didn't think that would be necessary at that point since it wasn't listed as a required original document, so I was very glad I had brought it anyway! After that, she said that his CR-1 visa was approved and gave us a paper that said where he could pick up his passport with the visa in it. We were thrilled that it was complete and she was congratulatory and we were on our way. I hope if you are in the thick of it that this can provide you some hope that there really is an end to this process and you just have to keep moving through it!! This process is not for the faint of heart but it is worth it and you can be stronger as a couple for it!!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
