Hey everyone, so I've done a ton of reading and I'm in the process of convincing someone to be my joint sponsor. From what I'm aware a joint sponsor is someone who doesn't live in the same household you intend to live in with your spouse, you don't necessarily have to live with them once you arrive in the US, and it could even be someone from a state other than the one you plan to live in. Am I correct? Problem is my joint sponsor is a little doubtful about the whole process at the moment, what risks exactly would a joint sponsor be undertaking ? and what documents would he/she have to file, other than form I864? What other documents would be necessary to become a joint sponsor? Is this information available somewhere that I'm not aware of

Hello, everyone newbie here. I would really like to know your opinion on this matter. First off I'm a 29 year old US citizen living in Ecuador. I'm also ecuadorian as I was born here and got US citizenship through my father as a kid. I lived in the US since I was 6 and came back to Ecuador when I was 19. While here I went to university and became a dentist, I also met my future wife and we have a 6 year old daughter together. Things are becoming really tough in Ecuador are we are seriously considering moving to the US permanently. My daughter has US citizenship through a CRBA and also has a US passport. We haven't gotten married yet but have been living together for 2 years. I'm really indecisive about whether or not applying for K1 visa or getting married and applying for CR1 instead. What would you recommend in my case? I really want an option with the less waiting time possible, can't really stand the thought of being away from my partner and daughter for so long. I'm planning on filing for k1 visa then travel to the US to reestablish domicile and get a job. I also have an aunt who could possibly be a co-sponsor. I'm aware of the different costs each option implies. Which option would be the surest way to get approved and have all 3 of us travel together to start a new life in the states? Would really appreciate any insight. TIA

Brazil requires both a STATE and a FEDERAL police record. I know that it is possible to obtain a federal police record online, but the dpf.gov link that NVC provided is not a correct link. Where is the website I can go to get one?

Hi, I'd like to get some insight about my situation.

Me and my wife got married on August 2018 in California. I applied for the green card on November 2019

On Feb 2020 I received my work permit and temporary social security

We had the Interview on September 2020

After that I haven't heard back from USCIS, not a single notification. I'm concerned about my process now. Any ideas??

Thank you!

I received notice last week that my wife's birth certificate had been rejected. When I go to the acceptable documents it says that they accept the "inscripcion de nacimiento" from the "Registro Civil" from Ecuador and that the "certificado de nacimiento" that we submitted was unsatisfactory. When my wife went to the Registro Civil, she was told by them that the inscripcion de nacimiento and the certificado de nacimiento were the same thing.

When I looked on the Registro Civil's website it looks like an inscripcion de nacimiento is something we file with them. Do we have to file the inscripcion de nacimiento with Ecuador and then get a copy of it for the NVC? From what my wife understands from talking to the Registro Civil there is no inscripcion de nacimiento that she can get.
