Hi everyone, I had my IR-1 interview yesterday at the U.S. Embassy in Madrid. Overall, the interview went well, but I was issued a white 221(g) requesting updated financial documents from the co-sponsor. The officer explained that the document previously accepted by NVC was a photo taken with a phone, and they needed a more official/professional version. The officer was very kind and clarified that I needed to submit either the co-sponsor s 2024 W-2 or her 2024 tax return transcript. She marked on the paper that the document should be sent by email only (the option to send it by regular mail was not checked). She also kept my passport and original civil documents. I emailed the co-sponsor s 2024 tax return transcript later that same afternoon, on the day of the interview. The officer mentioned that once the document was received, the process could take around 3 4 weeks to be completed. I m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience at the Madrid embassy, especially a 221(g) for financial documents only. How long did it take for your case to move forward after submitting the missing document? Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I d appreciate input from those with experience in 221(g) administrative processing, especially cases with multiple CEAC updates. Case basics: -
Immigrant Visa (EB-based), Consular Processing -
Embassy: Santo Domingo -
CEAC status: Refused (221g Administrative Processing) -
Passports: submitted and currently with the embassy -
No additional documents requested -
Principal and derivative cases now updating together -
My nationality: Colombian (born in Venezuela) -
Spouse s nationality: Venezuelan Short timeline: -
Dec 14, 2025: Interview placed under 221(g) -
Feb 18, 2025: Requested 221(g) documents submitted -
Throughout 2025: Several Case Last Updated changes, no status change -
Dec 2 3, 2025: Passports submitted and processed -
Dec 16, 23, 30, 2025: CEAC updated multiple times -
Late Dec: CEAC stopped accepting NA/NA and now requires real passport data -
Jan 7, 2026: Another CEAC update, still shows Refused Questions: -
Is this pattern (frequent updates + passports retained + still Refused ) typical before Issued in 221(g) cases? -
For those who ve been through this, how long did it stay as Refused before changing to Issued ? -
Based on real experience (not speculation), could recent Trump immigration policies affect a consular EB case already at this stage, considering our nationalities? -
At this point, is it better to keep waiting or to email the consulate after a certain amount of time? Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share real-world experience.

I filed my I-751 back in December 2022 and the last update was last December where they transferred it to another office (NBC) as per USCIS page I could ask for an update since it's been so long, now my question is have you requested information and had a positive result? If so, how long after the request? Thanks for any input.

My partner came here on a Fiance Visa. We married in the 90-day window and filed for Adjustment of Status. That is in process now. At some point, we anticipate we'll be asked to go for interviews. We are a same-sex couple and, under this current "administration," we are worried we will be subjected to extra scrutiny. Has anyone done an Adjustment of Status interview recently? What sort of evidence do we need to be prepared to provide? We've tried to follow the rules, but right now, that may not be sufficient. Do we need to be prepared to bring photos, videos, documents? Any advice is appreciated.
