Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : July 3, 2025
Embassy Review : Overall a very professional experience. On our first attempt we were missing a certified divorce decree. The person at the window was professional but stern and told us they wouldn't be able to continue our appointment that day and we would need to return with the divorce decree. They did tell us that the rest of the packet looked good. So we left feeling depressed and frustrated but went right online to find the next appt. Thankfully it was only about 2.5 weeks away.

On the second interview date they asked my husband for the divorce decree and then opened our packet. The interviewer went to the pictures we provided and one was with my family. Interviewer asked my husband who was in the picture then asked about our plans for the future and our age difference and that was it. Told my husband it was approved and we will get the visa in the mail at the requested pick-up location.

Even as a same-sex couple in a rather conservative country we felt respected and the security guards went out of their way (once they knew I was military and a US citizen) to bring me all the way through the line so that I could be with my husband for the interview. I was happily surprised.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
