Trying to figure out my tax situation and want to verify what a tax accountant told me. My wife moved her dec 26 and we got married on dec 27. Tha accountant told me she doesnt need to file this year since all of her income was when she was out of the country and i can file married filing separately. Is this because of the substantial presence test? Would we have the option to file jointly if we wanted as it seems like we might get a bigger return since she didnt make much in her home country?

Hello! My fianc from Colombia has a 13 year old son. We are going to wait to petition him to come to the US until he s done with high school, however, we d love to have him come visit us. Has anybody had any luck getting a tourist visa approved for the child of a beneficiary? If not, does anybody know if it would be possible to have him do an exchange program for a semester at a local high school, or would that likely get denied?

The interview for her green card is in San Francisco and my wife only speaks Spanish. My wife insist that some immigration attorney she follows on instagram says its a must to bring a interpreter to the interview? I do not see anywhere in any of the paperwork that says we must bring someone to translate for her. If that was the case I don't even know who I would even bring. Is this true? I would think they would say something to me about making arrangements??
