US Immigration from Colombia

We were recent victims of property theft. My Wife s passport from Venezuela was stolen. Since there is no embassy or consulate in the US what are our options? We have pictures of the passport and visa but I m not sure what good that will do for us. Thanks for any help you can provide for us.

12/18/2023 Stopped by Myrtle Beach SSA to verify information. Was non-existent.

12/21/2023 Called SSA Main Number, Hold for 1 hour and spoke with someone incompetent of the immigration services,

was put on hold 4 times, extra 35 min and still got nothing to work with

12/28/2023 Decided to go to local SSA Office without an appointment. Brought the SSA 5 application, Passport with Visa and Visa Stamp, foreign birth certificate and its translation.

Asked the women if she could double check the computers again to see if the information was transferred. No luck.

The women took the SS5 and applied for the SSA card manually. Took about 5 min and was told to wait two weeks for the verification and delivery of the card.

I would say give it a week and go to the SSA office with SS5 filled out, Passport with Visa stamp and their birth certificate (translated just incase). Check to see if your information is entered into the computer automatically from the DS-260. If it is not, request that they order a SSA number instead of waiting longer.

My Colombian fiance had his medical exam and interview November of last year. He disclosed he smokes marijuana so they gave him the sheet of paper of why he wasn't able to get his visa, checked 1A4 because of his drug use with directions to try again in a year. So he had another medical exam November of this year. We then got an email stating he needs to bring his passport to the embassy and pay the visa fee. He did that yesterday, they took his money, and then they again gave him the paper checked 1A4 with a note stating he needs to come back in a year. Does that mean he failed his drug test? How many times will they tell us the same thing? We have two kids so this is devastating news. Is there anything we can do? I'm so in the dark, any help is very much appreciated.

I am american citizen and my mom is a green card holder. We would like to bring my sister who is 32 years old. What process would take shorter, if I apply or my mom applies if that is even possible?

Hi there. I ve tried to get answers to this via the forum and elsewhere to no avail.

We had to switch our application to consular filing in Bogota two months after originally filing in the US. We had to care for my wife s dying (now deceased) father.

We are five months into the process and used a US lawyer.

I am trying to find benchmarks for dates as we are renting out our house etc and trying not to have to sit by the phone waiting for our interview.

What exact things will we be notified of? Will we get notification once the case is approved and sent down here and how much notice will we get before our interview date? Weeks? Months? Days?

Will we receive ANY other notifications?
