My wife and I recently moved back to the US from China. I am a USC and she is a Chinese national with a CR1 green card. She has been in the US for 6 months. We would like to have her mother come and visit us. Her mother contacted a local visa agency in China to get help with her B2 application. They told her that since her daughter has a CR1 green card and has not been in the US for very long, her chances are low of obtaining a B2 visa and that if she applies now and is rejected, it might hurt her chances of obtaining a B2 visa in the future.. Is this sound advice? Should we try anyways?

Hi there, I recently received my Biometric Notification appointment along with a second page that has the Applicant's Information Worksheet form. I'm curious as to whether I should fill it out before to the Biometric appointment or once I've arrived at the appointment place.

My wife and I are most likely looking at a divorce. It will probably be through mediation rather than court, so a judge won't likely be involved except to approve the decree. However, my wife came over on a K-1 visa and I am the i-864 sponsor listed on the petition. I understand that i-864 requires I support her to 125% of federal poverty levels. But I was hoping to get clarification. Does the i-864 require I support her to 125% poverty level no matter if she is using government assistance or not? Does the i-864 require that I support her financially if she is earning well above the poverty limit and even earning more than myself? I would appreciate any clarification on what exactly the i-864 is requiring from me if/when my wife and I are officially divorced.
