I have my citizenship interview on Monday morning. Does the officer need originals of marriage certificate, birth, divorce, etc? I was thinking of taking original and copies with me just in case. Some where harder to obtain than others. Thanks in advance.

I have received a letter from US state department saying that my petition for I-129F has been approved and I was provided with Montreal Case number.

I'm having a hard time understanding if NOW I need to do something (schedule interview, medical etc) or I need to wait to be contacted by the Montreal consulate in regards the next steps, and whether or now I should go ahead and schedule my interview?

The letter simply says that the Consulate will contact me when they are ready to process my petition, but on the forum I saw a couple of members suggesting to go ahead and schedule the interview.

Please clarify this for me. I dont want to waste time, if now it's on me to take action. Thank you!

N400 RFI - US Born Parent

Hi there, It's been a while since I've posted anything, but I've run into a snag with my N400 and curious of any similar experiences or advice:

I applied for N400 and had my interview. In the interview, I was asked if my parents were both born in Canada (where I was born) and always lived in Canada - My dad was born in the US, so I replied: My father was born in the US, he never applied for US Citizenship for himself. he never held a US passport and he is now deceased.

The interviewer said that he couldn't approve me because he thought I might be entitled for citizenship through my dad. He said to give him a little time and he would update.

I just received an RFI for my father's birth certificate and marriage certificate.

Everything I have read on USCIS and here tells me I do not qualify to become a US citizen through my parent because he did not request it before I turned 18 and because he did not meet the residency requirement (he moved when he was a child).

I think I might be able to get the birth certificate, but I do recall him looking into this once long ago and saying that he could only get a birth certificate if he knew where he was baptized and he dropped it. I don't know if I can acquire a marriage certificate and frankly don't get why it's applicable?

I'm planning to call in and see if I can get more info, but what do I do if I can't get these items? I need to get my response in by June 3 and very worried it's not possible to even acquire the docs at all let alone in that time.

I applied on 4/6/2024 and got my interview notice on 4/15/2024. I went to log in today just to take a look, and it's not showing my application. It directs me to the home page as if I'm going to submit a new case. Is this normal to happen once you get an interview notice?

Medical Worries - Dr Cheema - Mental Health

My medical is with Dr Cheema about a month from now. I've been diagnosed with depression and anxiety and in 2019 I had two suicide attempts. I was never hospitalized for these (they were minor), I had another time when I had suicidal thoughts and voluntarily went to a mental health clinic (they never actually admitted me) I haven't had any thoughts of self-harm or attempts since around that time. I was on anti-depressants for a few months and had counseling a couple of times around then, but a few months after taking the antidepressants (2019), I stopped taking them and haven't had any treatment since.

I've changed my lifestyle completely since then and I haven't struggled with depression in a few years. Will I have any problems at the medical?

I'll be getting a note from my family doctor, what should I ask her to include on the note? Is there any other proof I should try to get to prove that I'm not a harm to myself?

Can anyone with a similar past share their experience at the medical exam?

Any advice or reassurance is very appreciated!
