Interview Experience

We had our greencard interview today at 11:30 am in Norfolk, VA. We arrived about 15 minutes early and had to wait for about five. We were called by a very friendly woman in her mid-thirties. We followed her into an office where we made a bit of small talk while she looked at my husband's file. She then asked for our driver's licenses and passports and removed his I-94. She commented that we had waited a bit long in the 90 day period (K1 visa) and we explained that I had wanted to plan the wedding together once my husband was here. She then asked my husband how we met. She asked for our evidence and we gave her joint banks statements, credit cards, cable and power bills, car title, car insurance, life insurance. She asked for our lease and we explained that we have no lease, only a verbal agreement. She asked all the compulsory questions ( i.e., do you plan to practice polygamy?), then asked to see our photos. She looked at all of them and seemed impressed that my husband's parents had come to the U.S. for the wedding. She made comments about most of our photos and was very personable, smiling and laughing throughout the interview. At the end she said that she had what she needed to make a decision by the end of the day and that we would hear something in around two weeks. She asked if we had any questions. We asked if his namecheck was complete and she said that it was. Though we were disappointed that she didn't say we were approved right then, we felt confident about the whole process. We're just wondering whether to go on and buy tickets to go to Russia in August...we don't want to wait for the fares to keep going up....

If she took the I-94 out and your namecheck is done... sounds like you're pretty much approved... Congrats and I don't see why you couldn't book a ticket now... besides you have AP. Have a fun time in Russia.

AP is void once the greencard approval goes into motion. I wouldn't buy tickets yet. If the case is truly approved, you will start to see movement online within a few days. I've read similar interview accounts to this one (a non-committal AO) and most posters report online case movement shortly after the interview. You can buy your tickets then.
