Community SpotlightAbandoned AOS and now regret it
Mariammaria posted a topic in Adjustment of Status Case Filing and Progress Reports,
Please be nice, I know I made a mistake... But got my K1 approved and arrived in the US June 25, 2024 and applied for AOS February 25, 2025 -- then left the US (abandoned my AOS). Will I be banned for re-entry to the US -- even under a spouse visa?-

US Citizen with Foreign Fiancé: When and How to Get Married?
gandalf1989 posted a topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures,
I'm currently living and working in the United States. My fiancé currently lives in Japan. We have been dating for about 6 months, and we have met in person several times, but we are not yet married.
My fiancé will be visiting me in the United States on a tourist visa some time in March or April and staying for about 3 months. I want to file for a fiance/spouse visa asap -- what's next?-

N400: Admitted to Weed during Green Card (was it a crime I was not arrested for?)
Left Over posted a topic in US Citizenship General Discussion,
To start, marijuana is illegal in my country of origin. When I was applying for my green card I admitted to trying marijuana when I was in my 20's (I'm 49 now). I got my green card and have lived in the US for 5 years. I'm in the process of applying for citizenship. What answer should I give to the question: "Have you EVER committed, agreed to commit, asked someone else to commit, helped commit, or tried to commit a crime or offense for which you were NOT arrested? Yes or No" given that I admitted to past marijuana use during the GC process?-

Fiancée threatened with deportation by customs agent after arriving at airport for false accusations. How concerned should we be?

Firstly, I want to get some things clear because I know everyone will say this otherwise:
We are seeing an immigration attorney for consultation soon. We've already printed out several documents to prove that my fiancée is not coming here with the intent to live here for the future until they get the K-1 Visa... Now, Heres the actual story...- 53 replies
Fiance or Marriage Visa in 2025 ? Pros and cons?
KandB posted a topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration,
I'm 23F 🇨🇿, my partner is 29M 🇺🇲
We want to get our visa going sometime this year and want to be together as soon as possible but we are still unsure which visa would serve us better. I'd like to get married in my home country but on the other side i wouldn't mind getting married paperwise in the US and waiting for my work permit and etc if it would allow us to be together faster and then save up for and have our dream wedding in my home country.
What do you think ? All of this is so overwhelming and confusing and we just want to do the right thing.
I asked the same question on reddit, so many people recommended me to go with fiance visa, two suggested marriage visa. I need more input and advice from experienced people. Thank you
Ps: is it possible to have dual citizenship so i don't lose one from my home country? How does that work ?- 31 replies

I used to work with fake documents and received welfare. My income has reached the federal poverty line. Can I still apply for a green card?

2 RepliesI sincerely hope that guy's wife is not allowed to leave the Philippines. He is the the type that CFO is protecting young women from. I don't care if they were able to get married and get approved for CR1. He is unstable and poses a risk to the woman and child.
Requesting CR-1 Interview at a Different Consulate — Choosing Italy Instead of Dubai 8:20 pm yesterday

2 RepliesHi everyone,
I wanted to share something we re currently navigating in our CR-1 visa journey.
I m a U.S. citizen and italian citizen planning to move back in Italy, and my husband (the beneficiary) is an Italian citizen currently living in Dubai. As we prepare to file our I-130, we re looking into the possibility of selecting the U.S. Consulate in Naples, Italy, rather than the default assignment of Abu Dhabi, which currently has an interview wait time of over 2 years and 8 months - something we simply can t manage emotionally or logistically.
What I found:
According to the Foreign Affairs Manual (FAM)
9 FAM 504.4-8(C)(d):
It would be preferable for the couple to apply where the principal applicant resides.9 FAM 504.4-8(C)(e):
However, if that is inconvenient, the couple could select the consulate where the derivative spouse resides.Question for the community>
- Has anyone here successfully indicated a consulate different from where the beneficiary resides such as listing the petitioner's consulate instead?
-
Any tips on how to present the request persuasively to NVC or the consulate?
-
Has Naples been responsive to these kinds of requests?
CONTEXT: Not applied yet. I plan to be in Italy next Sunday with a one-way ticket (planned time ago) - Might have opportunity to request a DCF as I've been interviewing (please note that I'm in tech ans often interview can last over 5 months)
Thank you

22 RepliesSo I am a US Citizen and my fiance lives in the Middle East with her parents, here is where things are going to get complicated I think, her father was a long time resident of this particular country in the middle east, and as of late his services are no longer going to be needed, in normal situations they would just go back and retire in their home country-- times are anything but normal now home country ( Sudan is ravaged by war and unlivable ), so they are planning ahead and most likely course of action is to seek Asylum in the UK, they have extended family there and they have been in touch with an immigration lawyer who will submit their paperwork.
Assuming they make this move, how much of a pain is it going to be for me to bring her here in the states? I am a US Citizen, in normal circumstances this would just be filing the needed form and wait the 8-12 months and no issue, the fact that she could be seeking status somewhere else with her family has me scratching my head- anyone has been in a similar situation?
there are two scenarios- we get married ( planned within next 8 months)
1-she could still be in the UK awaiting Asylum decision - then I even wonder if we can have a proper wedding in this said Middle Eastern country ( Her Mother and a sibling) are going to be left behind and will follow later if approved
2- she gets Asylum status- What do I do here? Apply normally and she will just have to go through US Consulate in the UK?
any input would be great , I am a bit lost
