I entered the U.S. on a K-1 visa on June 1st and left for Canada on June 2nd, remaining here for 20 days. I am now attempting to return to the U.S. through Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ) using Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR). My K-1 visa is expired, but my I-94 is still valid. Am I ok?-

Wrong USCIS application form filed by my lawyer!
narayan333 posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports,
Hello, so my wife came in k-1 visa to USA and we got married and all. We filled for work permit and green card together but while doing that my lawyer filed for I-130 no idea why. Will that application make my process for work permit and green card slow? If so how do I withdrawal that application? My lawyer isn’t helpful at all. I need some help…-

Seeking advice for Thai/US couple - What US visa path to take?
PeachyTocker posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures,
My gf and I live in Thailand but spend 2-4months in the US per year. Once/if we have children age 5+, the time split would become vice versa. We have no plans to live full-time in the United States in the next 5 years, but I visit my family and friends 2-3x per year for 2-3 weeks at a time. I would love it if she can join me for those trips and experience that part of my life. What options do we have -- US visa wise, maybe a tourist or fiance visa later? Other?

Abandoned AOS and now regret it
Mariammaria posted a topic in Adjustment of Status Case Filing and Progress Reports,
Please be nice, I know I made a mistake... But got my K1 approved and arrived in the US June 25, 2024 and applied for AOS February 25, 2025 -- then left the US (abandoned my AOS). Will I be banned for re-entry to the US -- even under a spouse visa?-

I'm currently living and working in the United States. My fiancé currently lives in Japan. We have been dating for about 6 months, and we have met in person several times, but we are not yet married.
My fiancé will be visiting me in the United States on a tourist visa some time in March or April and staying for about 3 months. I want to file for a fiance/spouse visa asap -- what's next?-

4 RepliesI have a rather complex question. My wife is an American and we were married in 2003 when she was living in the US and I was in Canada. Later in 2003 I received my k3 visa and moved to the US, where I received my permanent residency about 2 years later.
We lived in the US until I returned to Canada in 2011. My American wife followed me a month later and applied for permanent residency here, which she received in 2005.
She has a daughter and grandchildren in Texas and we are considering returning to the US. I am just wondering how complicated it would be to return? To add to that complication, I renounced my US permanent residency back in 2003 after returning to Canada. We have been married for 22 years. Thanks for your help!

2 RepliesHave our interview next Thursday 24th July.
Has anyone got any advice to prepare us for it. I have all the documents as listed on the interview letter. But if anyone has sone other information they think we should take along, we'd be super appreciative.
Thanks in advance.
PS, it's my 50th birthday the day after, so I have my fingers crossed that I get an awesome present from USCIS. LoL

1 RepliesI have resubmitted multiple times but they won't accept it. I keep getting this notice:
"Please replace this with an acceptable police certificate from a correct issuing authority. Please use our Document Finder at https://nvc.state.gov/find for acceptable documents guidelines."
The police certificate is the correct one. It meets all their guidelines. I am applying from Ireland. There are no other certificates.
I have sent multiple enquiries which were not helpful. One just said to upload front and back since it has a stamp. Othwise they just redirected me to the document finder page.
Anyone else encounter this problem? It's extremely frustrating since correspondence with the NVC takes so long - my immigration has been set back months because of this.

1 RepliesOur situation:
(Adam) US petitioner unemployed with low current income but has assets (stocks) value of close close to six figures. Files i864
(Bob) US father of petitioner who is retired and has pension and social security and moderately passes household of 3 (including wife and intending beneficiary but not petitioner) minimum to support. Files i864
(Jane) US mother of petitioner also retired and files taxes joint with above husband Bob, with her lesser income from social security. Files i864a
My understanding of the directions and advice on here is that it is recommended that spouses of joint sponsor should file i864a. From directions, it is acceptable for them to have separate addresses as well. To be clear they own two homes and live close to one another.
So we uploaded all the proper documents like tax transcripts, social security benefits letters and pension letter, stock brokerage statement, birth certificates, marriage certificates, etc.
I was confident that we had done everything correctly because I closely followed directions of i864 and i864a but we logged in and while petitioner and joint sponsor documents show as accepted, there were two message notes that they said Jane (wife of joint sponsor Bob) does not qualify as a household member and should be added as a joint sponsor. They also said that the joint sponsor (Bob) needs to upload all 1099 and schedules.
Had anyone experienced this? Can someone explain what is going on? I used the NVC inquiry form to ask for clarifications on this and for a re-review.

5 RepliesHi everyone, I'll shoot straight.
My wife lives with her parents and now I live with them too, my circumstances have changed drastically and I need to get documents to prove I won't be a public charge.
Her parents don't work, my wife doesn't work due to health issues but pays rent and the only joint sponsor I have is her brother who will use his property as an asset for me on his Affidavit of Support.
- Considering our household size, do her parents file an affidavit of support for me too? Are they even included when they ask about household?
- What documents and forms would my brother in law need for this?
