There is nothing wrong with using your beliefs to guide you.

When your beliefs are grounded in medieval superstition, there is.

Your saying that Christianity is medieval superstition?

Obviously.

Thats your opinion. You need to measure your next response to avoid a sh!t storm.

Not a threat, just reminding you that attacking someones religion is a sure way to start a fight.

he is playing up to the christian right.... i see little chance for him except in iowa

Really? Huckabee shakes up GOP race in South Carolina

SC is Jesus country. No surprise there.

In fact these "revelations" may help him in the Bible Belt even though they will kill his candidacy in the general.

i agree with brother arijit...he is not mainstream enough and selling himself to the chrisitan right will alienate vopters..rudy will kick his azz..and he be gone by march

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I think this country will be better off without a religous fanatic running it.

Ya think?

He can win the GOP nomination by riding the Jesus wave, though. Then Rudy becomes moot.

I dunno why people have to focus so much on how religious a candidate is.. that doesn't affect his performance as a president or elect leader.. it doesn't have anything to do.. ohh, great, he prays to Hay-sus every morning.. cuz that's gonna make him a better decision taker.. or, he'll say Jesus guided him to do something, which is scary as fukc, to let your leader do something because some deity said, rather than common sense, and facts...

I don't mind if in their personal time the candidates are mormons, christians, buddhists, hare-krishnas.. but there's no point of mixing religion and your capability to be a good leader.. if it gives you confidence, good, but, religion is not AN IMPORTANT fact to guide a country..

and the worst part, if people look for that in a candidate, what a sad country, what's the point of a campaign then? just make a contest of Who Loves Jesus the most and that's it

I agree with that. If I recall we had a similar discussion in this country in 1960. People were afraid that Kennedy would take his orders from the Pope. That turned out to me false. I am sure if Huckabee were to win he wouldn't take his orders from anyone either. Religious people scare some without reason. In reality they use religious bigotry as an excuse to slam someone that has different political views. To bad this country has gotten to the point where it is OK to use a persons religious beliefs as an attack platform. Pretty shallow if you ask me.

Kennedy was elected *despite* being Catholic. Huckabee is using his religiosity to try and win votes. Big difference.

If you're going to try and use your religion to your advantage, then you better be prepared for the backlash, IMO.

Really? Then why do most of the major candidates make it a point to be seen leaving church on sunday morning? There is a constituency out there that wants the candidates to have a religious grounding. All candidates that want to have a chance play to that constituency. Huckabee is no different.

There is a difference between walking out of a church with kids and spouse in tow and yelling out about you entered politics for Jesus and how you want to take the US back to Christ.
