Good job :)

That's good info.

The only thing that would discourage people from using a money order is not being able to get the tracking number that you get with using a personal check.

When the check is cashed, it is scanned and you can ask your bank for a copy of it right away (some even show an electronic scan online) then from the back of the scan you can get your case number which you use at USCIS.com once you have made an account. That way you can track your case.

With a money order you have to wait until you receive a hard copy of your NOA1.

Best of luck to you Wayne!!

no matter what you pay (not cash) to the VSC you will eventually received the letter

I paid m with personal check and get the leter 1 and half weeks after it send out.

so there is no guarantee the process time. the only thing the you know is send it certified mail and know that it arrive at the center on time and wait for your case to process that is all

other than that the process will be long lol

Mine was sent last week and delivery confirmation has already been confirmed. My check as well has shown to have gone through so I know they have my petition. Now the question stands, how long will it take? I can only pray and hope it will take the average amount of time which is usually 6 or more months. I am hoping my information sufficient to avoid any possible RFE's.

Yeah, the only thing that saved you any actual time was sending it overnight. USCIS puts you in a queue according to the received date. You keep your place in the queue while they're processing your payment. So if a package arrived a day ahead of yours had a personal check, you're still going to be behind them even if your payment is cashed first. Of course in reality it's not quite that granular, but it illustrates the concept.

I don't necessarily believe the by using a money order it will shorten your wait. I paid the K-1 with a USPS money order but then used a personal check for the AOS and really don't see a difference. This was a big issue with I first joined but I haven't seen any proof the money orders save time.

Yeah they still process your case as received as long as your check is there... USCIS does not wait to verify the check clearning (no need to wait for the 7 to 10 days). I personally go with the check and not some money order, so you can track the receipt number.
