Anyone know how to contact Homeland Security

It's been over one year now since my husband had his interview in Cairo. I've contacted the senator now a couple of times and they give me the same response that I've known for 1 year now (he's on Administrative Processing). I've written Condeleeza Rice a letter and all that did was prompt a call from the DOS.

I call the DOS weekly and our papers have been in Homeland Security since the beginning of August. You know - I really thought that my husband was going to be here for my sons 13 birthday (in August) and he didn't make that. Then I thought for Thanksgiving for sure and he didn't make that. Now it's Christmas coming and I've still not totally given up hope (but really close to it).

So now insomnia is setting in and the same thoughts keep running through my head. My thought are no longer what will the day be like as he gets off the elevator at the airport and there we are standing there waiting for him. My thoughts are now, what will we do when we get the official word that the visa is denied. I can't explain such a long delay except that's the answer that must be coming.

Can't help to feel jealous of the women that I've been in contact with who's husbands are now here and enjoying the USA. So did I go wrong in not getting an immigration attorney when we first started these papers? Maybe that would have made the difference.

So I've been told that there's no way to contact Homeland Security. Does anyone know if that's correct? Homeland Security's average timeframe is 6 - 12 months to do their stuff - just in case you didn't know that. You know - I really don't understand the delay. If he had committed a crime, I could understand the delay, but he or any of his families members have committed no crimes. Homeland Security is only checks on him. I thought that for sure the fingerprints would show them that he's done nothing in his life (no police records). But then I keep thinking - maybe the officer who took the fingerprints smudged one. Hahahahaha.

Does anyone know the longest wait on AP for Cairo on a K3 case? Our two year wedding anniversary will be coming up in Feb.

Does that help any?

Cairobound,

I know you and your husband are tired. This delay is so unnecessary, but I would suggest you keep pressing in and write to everyone and anyone you can think of. Keep writing, keep fighting and never give up. They cannot keep jacking you around forever. Do no think of the word denied, and do not let it even enter your vocabulary. Yes, you may be delayed, but you are not denied.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Hang in there, sooner or later enough complaints will be made and someone will investigate. The black hole of security checks is, in my opinion just a way to deny a visa without giving a reason so you cannot appeal, hence the "still pending" answer for years and you can do nothing.

BTW the department of homeland security only deals with ppl already in the us or when they try to enter the us, the Department of State is the agency that handles the visas, but they farm the checks out to various agencies. I remember reading there is now one central department (sorry I can't remember the name) that collects the information from all the various agencies (FBI, border security, CIA, etc.) and maintans the info then forwards it to the DOS when the checks are complete.

May i recommend everyone read about HR 3828 to limit the time for the checks to 6 months and write/call/email your support. This is the first step to make ppl with the ability to investigate and put pressure on the agencies aware of the problem.

It won't help those of us already in the waiting game but it will help in the future.

I think yours is the longest AR I've seen through Cairo. (I have seen a couple of ARs here on VJ that were even longer, but they involved other countries.)

Best of luck in contacting Homeland Security -- hopefully someone there can help get your case moving again. Sending you thoughts and prayers for getting this resolved soon.

that's just aweful! I've never seen someone held up at the security level for so long. Most of us are just stalled out back in Cairo. I hope this nightmare ends for you soon!

I wish I knew the number.

Its not to late to get an attorney at least they could write on your behalf. I feel you about the fears and the insomnia, I'm going through that too. (L) (L) (L)

This might be a stupid question...........I'm not really sure but.......when papers are sent from the embassy to Homeland Security, is that the same as when they are returned to USCIS like the cases that the pinned thread in the MENA forum addresses.......or is that different?

Where is your I130 petition......was it sent to the NVC after USCIS approval and assigned a number but you never went through with the paperwork because you followed through with the K3 or was it retained by USCIS after approval at an offsite storage facility.......

If your papers are already at the NVC and if it has not been more than one year since a case # was assigned, perhaps you can contact the NVC and get the I130 papers moving.

Cairobound.......you have been waiting for WAYYYYYYYY too long.......I sincerely hope this gets resolved soon.
