I think there may be some truth to that - you don't tend to see much abstinence outside of church groups / communities.

In general I'd say that someone who doesn't have sex until their early-mid 20's (unless it is a genuine desire to abstain until marriage) probably isn't too clued up on pursuing relationships with the opposite sex.

I'm just saying that it's not for being Catholic that she thought that. I think there is something to be said about saving oneself for marriage, but I also think it's an unrealistic expectation nowadays. The Church will never openly condone sex before marriage, but I don't think it carries with it the same religious stigma it once did.
