Timeline

Hidie ho folks...

am i being a bit like a social service announcement

nah not meaning too - I do find the timelines interesting (if not an obsession for me  ) if everyone could take a couple of minutes to make sure that their timelines are updated, or at least entered - that would be fantastic - the more information that we have that is accurate the better "overall" picture we are able to see based on dates, consulates, etc.

For those that don't know how to do that - (and there is probably a thread or something here about it - so please forgive me).

Make sure you are logged in.

Go to the link at the top that says immigration timelines

Left hand side you will see the menu about (editing/adding) timeline... and also the bit about creating a timeline.

Just as an FYI for "newbies" the information that you put in here, doesn't "show" up at the bottom of your posts - it only shows up when someone clicks on your "timeline" under your name/information.

BUT it is the information that you put into these fields that then appear on the stats pages etc. which help (those of us that are obsessed with data)

I have seen some people also wanting the information to appear at the bottom of their posts - THIS is separate, and you add that in (in anyway/format) that you want, by going to your own profile/control panel and adding it in/changing it etc. in your "signature".. But nothing that you type in there will appear in the stats form.

Have a GREAT day

Tracy

I made a similar request awhile back..........the contributors will update their's, the leeches won't.

If I see a request for something and the user has submitted a petition but has no timline, I move on.

To be fair I think a lot of users really don't understand the timeline. A lot of people stick their timeline into their signature space, which often misleads the casual reader into thinking this is where their timeline is supposed to be. It's also not immediately obvious how to update your timeline. When I first started out here I thought I was missing something because there's no link to update your timeline from the timeline icon. That you have to go one place to view your timeline and another to update it is very unintuitive.

Of course there are those who do "leech," but I think they're in the minority.

Good on you TracyOz for bringing this up again. More accurate timelines means more accurate data with which to plan our futures.

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

It gives an estimated time line based on other filers with the same country and service center as you. It's a pretty good tool and can give someone an estimated time for a possible approval.

In some cases, it's not as accurate as it could be but it's still a good thing.
