I'm new to the forum. Well I did a 1-129 Petition for a Fiance Visa. I live in America and my fiance is in Montenegro. I mailed in my packet and recieved a letter from USCIS saying they received it. My case is pending. But I still am not sure how long it will take for it to get approved. Some people have told me it takes 3-4 months is that accurate? I'm just nervous because I wanted him to come here and we want to get married here but we planned on having a wedding reception back in Montenegro..we were thinking July 2008. So....does anybody know what for me 2 expect? Also...i don't know how this all works. I mailed in my packet....do I just wait? Are they going 2 mail letters for more information...other than what was required on the list? I'm really stressed out about this. If anybody knows how long it will probably take (in months) let me know. Thank you. :(

That is what we did, it took us 8 months from I-129F filing to visa interview.

To get a good idea on how long please use the VJ timeliness.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Yes you can never really say when you will get the approval, some people get an RFE which can delay the case for a few weeks.

It took me 3 months to get my approval but that was back this summer,it seems to of slowed down now, some people wait 6 months to get an approval.

You do have to think that when you guys get married that your fiance cant leave the country right away, there is a timelimit he has to stay here until you can travel outside the US.

It took me 5 months from filing until the interview.

Now in case of an emergancy he can leave the coutry but you have to talk to your local CIS office.

You will get an NOA2 [Notice of Action][i-797]when it's approved. First letter from them was the NOA1.

It's been taking about 6 months to get NOA2 recently.

Depends a little on which service center you applied at.

The only other letters you may get other than those 2 are RFEs[ Referral for Evidence.

After approval the petition will be sent to NVC which normally only takes a few days for them to forward to her embassy. Been taking over a month lately tho for some peeps.

I've no idea how long it takes for her to get an interview appointment in her embassy.

I suggest you post your timelines as it's makes it easier for people to help.

After you marry your fiance must apply for Adjustment of Status, Advanced Parole and a work permit. Your fiance must not leave the country until Advanced Parole is granted. If he does he will not be allowed back into the USA and you will then have to apply for a marriage visa (either K3 or CR1) which will take as long, if not longer, than your fiance visa.
