Hello Cheryl,

Just wanted to add something to the chart. The petition left the NVC on March 14 and the embassy received it on March 25. My husband is going to the embassy on Monday to see if he can get packets 3 and 4 and if so, I will update u with his interview date. Hope you like the USA so far.

gogo, keep the faith. Your time will come. I think the 6 months is another one of their standard answers.

As for Meryll, she is still on document verification AR. After calling Grace at the USEM today and asking how I start to prepare to submit my 90 day review her story changed. They did not begin document verification till the last week of February. This is three weeks after the interview and 7 weeks after paying for document verification.

Hi Everyone,

Here is the Consulate review my wife made, it offers some details about her interview process for those of you who are interested.

Guayaquil Ecuador Consulate Review:

My son and I flew to Guayaquil the day before the interview and stayed at the Oro Verde hotel which is located across from the Consulate. The hotel is very nice; fortunately I was able to get a corporate rate because the company where I work made the reservations. (96 USD for a double room with breakfast included, they even picked us up from and dropped us off at the airport).

Our interview was scheduled for 8:30 am but we arrived 30 minutes early and already there were 15 people in line. At 8:30 someone from the offices came out to pick up our documents and they gave us a numbered yellow ticket to allow us to be called in the order in which we were waiting in line. It was also necessary to show to the guards the ticket before being allowed to enter the building. I had all of my documents organized in a folder but when the person collected mine he mentioned that it is better to bring in a manila envelope. I was thinking to myself, how can I put all the documents I brought in an envelope? I would have needed a giant envelope! If I were to do it again I would put just the packet 4 papers in there own envelope, I hadn’t realized they would collect them ahead of time and just figured I would hand them to them as needed. Fortunately I did have the packet 4 papers already sorted and bound with a clip inside my folder (with all our other supporting documentation) so it was not a problem to easily produce them.

They began to call us to go inside the offices five at a time so at about 10:00am it was my groups turn to go inside, they instructed us to go to room Nr.1 where we waited for about 15 minutes before being told to go to window Nr. 3.

At window Nr.3 there was a lady who was very friendly and nice, she asked me to tell her how I met my husband (while I was telling her the story she was typing on the computer) and then she asked me to show her our photos, especially those from our wedding. The slot at the bottom of the window was very small so I could not give to her our wedding album so she asked me to take out some of the photos. I also showed to her that I had about 300 photos of all our visits that we spent together and she said “it is ok you can give me all that you brought”, she took the time to look at them and started to make jokes, also she was asking me where was taken some photos and who were the persons (I showed photos with my family and my husband´s family) I replied very quickly to her answers. Also she made questions about, where did we marry and where did we spend our honeymoon, how many the times had we met and how long were we together in all our visits, how many times I was married and how many was he, how many kids does he have and how many I have, she was typing all the data. She asked me if I have emails and I gave to her a bunch of them (she took all), she said that all documents were right and asked me what else did I bring and I said that my husband and I have a joint account and I gave to her the statements of the last months. I brought more proofs like phone bills with details of the numbers, receipts etc. but she said “it is not necessary, with this is enough”

My son was always next to me and he was asked only if he was married (he is 18 years old). She checked document by document and everything was ok!! I told her that is because my husband spent a lot of time preparing the documents and he did the best job!! My son and I signed 2 documents and went to sit back down..

Five minutes later we were called by the loudspeaker to go to room Nr.3 to get our fingerprints and this person also was very friendly. After the fingerprints we went back to room Nr. 1 and waited another 30 minutes until we were called to our interview with the Consular. He was very very friendly, he made us raise our right hand and swear that every word we will tell him shall be the truth. He asked what is my husband’s profession, where were we married, if we have kids together and how many kids do I have. He also commented that since I had already had a tourist visa why hadn’t I ever stayed more than 21 days in USA, he commented that I could have just chosen to stay illegally beyond the 6 months to be with my husband. (The time that the B1/B2 visa allows to be in USA) Of course I told him it was our intention for me to immigrate to the country legally and he said yes, I see you have a good record. (Of not overstaying) My son was not asked anything. After this I heard the most waited words that my husband and me were waiting for “YOUR VISA HAS BEEN APROVED!!!!, he gave to us a pink sheet and he asked us to go to the DHL office to arrange the delivery, after 10 work days both of you will have your passport, he replied”

I was very excited, my son and I had a big hug and I wanted to let my husband know right away but no purses and cell phones were allowed inside so we went fast to the hotel to call him, I said this is the prize for all our efforts, tears and sadness that we have had all this 11 months being apart.

We are planning to have our 1st Anniversary celebration in Cartagena Columbia this month. THANK GOD for giving to me the best husband in this world!!!!

Thanks to all the people at visa journey, this site is a great resource of information. I know most of the people who started the Visa process with us together already have their Visa, for those still working on it our prayers are with you.

Hi Deb..

My wife likes it here and is enjoying. Since we are still waiting for her AOS/EAD, she feels kinda bored at times but we both are just very happy and grateful to be living together.
