10 Year Tourist Visa?

What is this? I read in another post someone got a B1 Visa that says they can enter the united states legally during the course of 10 years, I'm really confused, how do you get one of these? I would love to be able to get one for my fiance so she can wait out the process here with me legally. Or is that not how it works? Either way what is this 10 year tourist visa?

Oh ok I didn't know that was a tourist visa, but I heard of 10 year tourist visas, a friend of mine in Brazil has one, I had no idea you could get one of these.

There's no gaurantee anybody will be granted any visa but the longest stay granted to a B2 visa holder is six months. They are for visiting, not residing.

Depending on your financial situation, age and mood of the agent you can, my mom has one, but don't get confused, a 10 year tourist visa is valid for 10 years to use for multiple entries, but at each time you can only stay in the US a maximum of 90 days, depending in the stamp you receive on your I-94, that will be what's valid for your stay, if the I-94 says 2 weeks, then that's what you have, even though your visa is valid for 10 years. You'd have to leave and enter again, and if you do it too often in short periods of time you CAN get denied entry.

yeah i'm starting to understand, oh how i wish i could get a tourist visa for my fiance so she could wait out the process here with me, last time she was here the agent at the airport gave her 6 months, that would be perfect if that happened again, but she was already denied another tourist visa this is so frustrating

JDK...I know you really want her to be here...we all want to be with our loved ones. Look at me, we haven't even started yet because I'm waiting on my divorce papers. For your own sanity and to prevent heart ache, try to just accept that this is how it is. Save money, talk every day, send letters and emails and just focus on the relationship and before you know it, she'll be here!!!!

The one thing about being in a long distance relationship is the lesson of patience. Before Nick, 6 months to me seemed like a long time..now it's nothing. It will go by in no time.

And remember, mom's 10 year visa was issued before 9/11, things have changed quite a bit after that, and these days 10 year visas are RARE, if not to say, not being done at all. I think now they give a maximum of 5 years, and even that is not so frequent anymore.
