but I agree with vjtroll.. prices are gonna go crazy without that 'necessary evil'..

oh.. they gotta lot of business.. don't worry bout them lol.. best example.. had to fix the water pump for my stupid van.. all americans charged 600+ bucks... and had to make an appt and blablabla.. went with this amigo who is a mechanic/preacher.. 280 bucks, in a weekend.. best job evarr.. when i moved here to kannapolis, i went to locate the amigos businesses.. don't wanna get ripped by americans

Same here, I've just started discovering the amigo network. Met a Colombian guy who does stuff cheap, real cheap, and when he doesn't have time, he sends a friend (all amigos). Prices are incredible, quality is just fine. Why hire American as long as these guys are already here and I'm already bearing their tax burden?

Stock up on that vaseline in case they ever catch you. :P

They won't "catch" me. They're not even looking.

At least "they" weren't looking for you until you publicly admitted that you knowingly hire illegal aliens in violation of Federal law.

It's just a matter of time before they track you down and make you pay for your crimes. You can meet new "amigos" in the Federal pen since I hear that about 1/4 of the "guests" are illegals.

The vaseline comes in handy in jail too. ;)

besides, if like in his example, he goes to a shop, he doesn't know if the amigos are legal or illegal, is not even his business to ask that.. or are you gonna ask the repairman 'excuse me can you show me your green card'?? muahahaha.. only you guys here would do that.. and what would be the base to ask for? if they look foreigner, you automatically ask them for their immigration status?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

It won't be for long when roughly half of immigration in modern times is illegal, illiterate / semi-literate in their own language, and Third World. In cities like Houston 1 out of 6 people walking the streets are an illegal alien. Roughly 66% of the babies born in Houston hospitals are the children of illegal aliens. Most on the public's dime.

Don't you think the American people should formulate American immigration policy rather than the (illegal) immigrant and the Republic of Mexico (the source of most illegal immigration)?

I'm glad you're so optimistic and think the situation is rosey. I don't believe the status quo is sustainable in the long run.

As the old adage goes...you are what you eat. Think about it.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

I wish they had had this zero tolerance at borders in 1492, BEFORE Columbus got there...

That dog don't hunt.

That analogy is about as lame as comparing a banana to an elephant and trying to convince people that they are the same. The world of 1492 and 2007 are not the same. I hear the same lame nonsense when some folks try to compare the immigration of 1800 - 1920 America to modern day 21st Century America. That America no longer exists either. Go try to claim your free land from the Homestead Act or in the Oklahoma Land Run tomorrow. See how far you get.

If your going to debate modern 21st Century American immigration policy at least come to the table in the realm of modern reality and with some common sense.

Technically speaking if it's just short-term one-off handywork he's not liable at all (as opposed to hiring a full-time nanny or something like that), and if he's hiring a contractor who sends over an illegal worker, the fault is with the contractor. (Changing this would mean you'd need to fill out an I-9 for the teenager that mows your lawn or babysits once a month for you.)

Wow ... must be nice to afford a teenager to mow the lawn ....

So busy paying for illegals benefits that the kid next door can't be hired.

If you didn't notice...it was a lame attempt on my part at some humor at the Troll's expense.

I pass through the many places in Houston that have illegal alien day laborers lining both sides of the road by the dozens and see the contractors negotiating the price they will pay the illegals right there in the open with no doubt to what is being done. Nobody seems to give a sh*t. Where is ICE, the city government, Bush, Congress, or anybody sworn to uphold the law?

If it was prostitutes or crack dealers doing the same thing...you can be sure it wouldn't go unnoticed by the corrupt bastards running our country. Corporations and businesses get a free pass though. Certain people are above the law.
