Hey folks my first day using this site, hopefully it will come in useful!

I came here mostly to try and find some people who may have had experience with RHC Visa services and am hoping to find some one whos experience with them has been better than my own.

Sadly I cant get them to do any thing, I have been struggling with them just to fill out my K-3 visa forms and I have pretty much given up hope that they are going to help in the slightest bit, It has cost me 3,500 dollars and whats worse I have lost 7 plus months that could have been spent with my family.

Now it looks like I am going to have to do it myself, I have seen some negative posts and some positive ones and would like to hear if you think hiring a "pro" is worth it.

As in anything else, some professionals are worth it and some are not.

This is why professional references are so important.

As long as there is nothing out of the ordinary about your case then do it yourself. There are guides here at VisaJourney that will step you through it. Read them first and if you have questions then find the appropriate forum to ask a question.

All depends on your situation. Some people are great with paperwork, some are not. Some people have a "detailed" past, some do not! Whats a lawyer going to do for a basic case? pretty much get you the paperwork and proof read it!! You still have to go out and get ur police cert. birth cert (long form) divorce cert, etc etc and fill out the paperwork! At least thats how it worked for us! We filled out the forms, she just proof read it! a $2500 (plus fees) proof reader! Of course we had not found visa journey (VJ) if we had found VJ prior to starting the process we would be $2500 richer, lol Again it all depends on your situation. LOTS of super info on VJ. yes some people post just to post, but many know what they are talking about. Take a look at the top of each forum, good info on the stickies, and at the top of the page their is even examples of filled out forms! Best of luck!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I did the petition and AOS myself and will also file the I-751 myself. I think, if your petition is fairly simple, you can do it yourself and save a lot of money. I suggest reading the guides here on VJ and then asking some questions. An attorney could end up charging you several thousand for something you are capable of doing yourself.

I also wish I had found this web site before giving Tod Schlosser at RHC Visa Services my money! ($1800)

After a more than a year of frustration with his mis-representation, mistakes, and absolutely HORRID customer concern, we were today DENIED the visa, for a minor omission of evidence that we were not told to prepare. Now we are looking at another 3 months in purgatory while our paperwork floats it's way to the top of the stack.

The last straw was today when I tried to e-mail him with the bad news, but he has BLOCKED MY ADDRESS FROM HIS INBOX!! So much for any implied guarantee of satisfaction.

He talks a good talk, and has a convincing website, but there is little substance behind it. I would like to find an effective way of saving others the expense, frustration, and grief we have experienced.

Can you discipline yourself to do the research? are you a thorough person? is your situation simple?

If you answered yes then you could do it yourself. I did, and am so happy I did.

Some lawyers tend to "prolong" the process as well cause the longer it takes, the more moola you give em. They also like to say they have a "backdoor to the embassy" and that with them "the process goes twice as fast". Not true. Not trying to scare you, just make sure you do the research if you go that route.

Wife was working for an American base company that used an immigration firm, quite large and experience, agreed for 1750 bucks, 500 down, and 1250 balance when she and her daughter received their green cards. I paid the fees, but with a guarantee if they made any errors, they would pay for it. They did make an error on one form, said they were sorry, resubmitted the form and paid the fees out of that 1750 bucks. Would never hire any attorney without a contract.

I was very pleased with their service, sure had a ton of forms to be filled out, but when it came to the I-751 and N-400, they said I could do those myself, but did help me out with questions at no charge.

I have heard that depending on the circumstance, an attorney may be helpful. However, I did not use an attorney. I've heard reports from the Asia Pacific Forum about Ho Chi Minh Embassy being very retarded or very discrete in their procedures. Hiring an attorney who helped a number of the Viets have helped them through the process.

It does depend on the circumstance.
