Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

and you don't like anyone questioning the leader of the "cesspool of spin" i guess that comes w/ being a VIP member.

No, what I don't like is when you and "your posse" put your bias into interpreting others' comments and then label people as America-haters because you don't agree with what they have to say. It's incorrect and just plain nasty.

Goddammit, Jenn, you got a VIP card?

Nothing new here, I see.

Keep up the good work, Steven.

yes i agree..nothing new here.

welcome to stevens personal "cesspool of spin" aka: VJ. where everything negative in the world is caused by America " the pirates of the world" and its horrible "immoral & heartless" citizens that for some reason would like its immigration laws enforced.

can anyone point out a thread steven didn't try to paint the US as the cause of a problem, or illegal immigrants as victims?

Follow your logic...if you complain about our government, whether over it's laws, policies or lack there of - then according to that logic, you are blaming America. This is nonsense really. There are plenty of views on this forum, and I would hope that mine is as welcome as others here. If not, then perhaps I don't belong here.

Also, if the USA were dumping cheap corn on the Mexican market wouldn't that mean that we are helping the very poor in Mexico put food on their table that they couldn't ordinarily afford?

I'll meet your question with another. When Toyota 'dumped' cheap, reliable vehicles on the U.S. and helped to cause the decline of the American auto industry, didn't that help the factory workers in Detroit because then they could buy cheap cars? (In other words, no.)

Anyhow, the article doesn't contradict itself. The overall cost of corn is cheaper, but that means that the Mexican farmers can't make any money selling corn, and the cheaper cost of corn hasn't lead to a cheaper cost of consumer goods. Farming isn't a business that will make you rich most of the time anyway, and NAFTA isn't helping. And hey, I heard that if you go north, you can make the equivalent of $100,000 per year if you work hard...

Oh good a game....Alright, I'll play

But first, The US is flooding the market with cheap corn driving out the Mexican farmers who can't compete on price, but the price of a tortilla has risen by 279%? Who is making that profit, the US?

...as more and more US corn goes to Mexico more and more Mexicans cross the border to the US? To stop the flow of cheap corn?

Surging imports have driven prices down by 70%. Doesn't that benefit 100,000,000 Mexicans? (I may be off by a few)

OK... on to the game.

I'll see your question and raise..

Why does it take a quarter of the Mexicans to produce less than 5% of the Mexico GNP?

If Mexico has been growing corn for 10,000 years why can't they produce it more efficiently

Many people cannot afford health care. Isn't this also true in the US? But we still give billions in foreign aid and food.

And the more corn the factory farms produce, the more money they make? Is this an alien concept in Mexico? Or should we produce more and make less money?

Would Mexico be better off if the US stopped selling cheap corn?

Would the recipients of our food aid be better off if we stopped subsidizing the US farmers to over produce?

Would we be better off if we stopped subsidizing the US farmers?

How would you solve the problem?
