Slower processing times?

Hey everyone,

Maybe I am just being paranoid, but do you think that with the presidential elections coming up soon in America, the government will be really busy and the K-1 Visa processing times will be even slower than they already are?

Or am I just finding things to worry about?

To be honest (although not being a USC I wouldn't know for sure) I doubt it would have much of an effect unless the service centers have direct duties to do with the election... as far as I am aware they don't... but like I said - don't quote me on it!!! I'm more inclined to agree with Jamie!!

Sadly, I have to state from my own experience that they are naturally slow as cold molasses (elections I do not think will have anything to do with this). Some have zipped through while others....well......! I like to call the NOA1 to NOA2 the hurry up and wait period. After this our case has moved along quickly as is shown in my signature.

We were approved around Thanksgiving and our I-129F was sent to Brazil around Christmas/New Years. My husband had his K1 visa 6 months after sending off the original applciation.

Yup, you are.

The whole visa process is stressful enough without looking for things to worry about on top of it all. You'll get there eventually, although it may feel like it will never happen at the moment.

I count myself firmly in the "be patient" crowd, but...wow. To go from 2 weeks to almost 4 months just to get it from the mailroom to a data entry person's desk?

but remember: that 'fifteen weeks' is VERY likely to be the same sort of 'covering their butts' type estimate as the 'six months' thing is for actual approval... approvals are coming in at WELL under six months (though still not as quickly as we'd like, of course), and so far people who have had to wait for their NOA1 haven't waited anything like fifteen weeks... a few were posting about it just yesterday, in fact; it's taken about four to five weeks

when I was at uni, I ALWAYS took essays down to the wire; would regret it at 3am every time, but never learned

though in this situation, the 'mandatory overtime' and other stuff USCIS mentioned might be incentive enough

Mandatory overtime sounds like a grand idea - I mean living in California isn't the cheapest (unless you're from England) so the CSC-ers should be welcoming the extra cash at least...

Hell, if I were there I'd work overtime as well!! In fact if they could just mail me some boxes of petitions and give me an approval stamp I'll get on it right away!!!!

so many companies 'outsource' their business to places all over the world; they should send us all a little parcelful, and we can all do some approving in our spare time
