Hi all.

Earlier today I called the USCIS for an update on my case, and it will be 90days this October 3rd since we filed it, she said if there is no update on our case by October 3rd, call them back and they will do some sort of thing to the case.

I forgot what it was called or what happens, but that is what she said.

Has anyone else heard of this before?

It is my first time hearing about it

Standard answer for them, they will put you off until at least 30 days past the filing dates posted on their website which is routinely kept at 6 months. Oldest cases being looked at posted on USCIS are March 15 (6 months old).

Hopefully they won't tell you to wait until 180 days. According to the VJ timeline stats CSC has been taking about 95 days on average from the NOA 1 until approval. Good luck

Hmm, I was told yesterday that 'if it gets to 90 days and you still haven't heard anything' (about my I-90 to get my green card corrected - which is also currently showing a processing time of 6 months on the USCIS site) that I should call back and they will 'expedite' my case. Yeah right, of course they will. I know USCIS well enough by now to know that the woman I spoke to was obviously talking (in a very friendly way, mind you) out of her #######, and that that is just one of their standard 'please get off the phone now and don't bother us again for a few months' lines. Still, I wonder if I spoke to the same customer 'service' rep that you got - it's probably something she reads from her script to every caller! I can practically guarantee that if you call them 5 times in a row and ask the exact same thing, you are going to get a different answer every time.

belive it or not this is common, and after you call at the 90 day mark they will tell you to give it another so many days and call back and so on. they wont tell you anything unless youve been approved, and you will see it on the site before they tell you on the phone.

An I-90 is a bit different than a I129F petition. And yes they should be willing to look into it for you at that point.

Talking out of their #######? Been there....experienced that. It sucks - I know. Even the IO at my infopass said that the CS reps working for USCIS are only taught to say two things - 30 days and 60 days.

I'm sorry you have to wait so long for your approval...

I know it is (well, obviously...)... but as the other USCIS people I've talked to have told me it will take 'a year', 'anything from 180 days to six months' (hmm, aren't those one and the same?!) and various other things... (and given that the CSC processing times are now saying '6 months' - slightly better than 'July 2006' which is what it said the other week)... ah, I was just wondering if we'd landed the same customer service lady, more than anything else! (Not that it's remotely relevant, but the only reason I called them at all was to find out if there's any way of establishing that the thing actually arrived safely and isn't lost!)

(edited... I remember WHY I posted in the first place now - it was just because the OP couldn't remember the word the customer service rep had used, and I was just wondering if it was 'expedite', 'cos that's what my 'call back when it's been 90 days' woman said. That was it! And of course I know I-90 processing and I-129F processing have nothing to do with each other... but that doesn't mean the USCIS customer service people don't sometimes spout the same lines no matter what you're calling about!)

Anyway... sorry, back to topic!

Different thing than the OP's K-1 petition, I-90 is a basic process for green-card correction, not the same as an I-129F waiting on administrative review, and initial name checks.
