allowing the public to report suspected illegal pressence

Not a good idea. In fact a very, very bad idea. Random people snitching up their neighbours? I don't think so.

by cutting them off from public assistance(non-emergency medical care, housing, ect..)

That would almost certainly not happen. I have yet to hear a politician of any side of the political debate advocate this.

There are logistical problems as well as financial ones, and again, while it all seems easy in theory, it just isn't in practice.

No, that doesn't mean don't do anything, it means you can't just say, 'cut off all their supplies and they'll somehow disappear' There are millions of people to re locate in a way that is ethical, no easy fix.

In part because in many areas, at least, 'cutting them off from public access' is already the official policy. You have to be a permanent resident or here legally to qualify for a lot of things. E.g., where I live, in order to rent an apartment, you have to submit to a credit check, meaning you need to have a social security number. Meaning that I couldn't add C. to my lease when he got here because he didn't have a social security number right away or any earning history. He couldn't get a driver's license because he couldn't show that he had applied for AOS until this past week, and then they called up USCIS to make sure he hadn't, I dunno, faked the NOA1 or something.

Was the law enforced? It seems to have been in our case. Has it prevented people from renting or driving while illegal? No, because people will either be added as approved occupants to some LEGAL person's lease, or drive illegally, or..... well, suppose C. is denied AOS. He now has a driver's license good for five years. He has his own SSN. For all intents and purposes, he could fall out of status tomorrow and no one would ever care.

So making laws saying 'cut them off!' isn't going to do much except make people feel better. No one is going to come here for the ability to be added as an approved occupant to someone else's lease.

I'll leave you to 'sell' the raised taxes to your fellow 'conservatives' ;)

Seriously, do you think enough voters would go for this? My thoughts are the most politicians are so scared of increasing taxes to pay for this that it doesn't even register as a viable alternative (I guess it's possible that studies have been conducted into this too, although I have never seen any evidence of it). It would be interesting to find out how much this would actually cost to be effective, and therefore how much tax would have to be levied.

As for the results in terms of higher prices for goods? Personally, I am quite happy for businesses to be made to pay real wages for people doing the jobs that are currently done by illegals. An interesting issue.

If the public sess the costs it is already paying to support illegal immigration they may be more willing to pay a little extra for produce or other services if housing & health care are more affordable. As it is now We are creating a permanant middle class with very little hope for future prosparity while catering to those who do not contribute to the future of our nation in a manner to allow for growth.

Look at our health care in this nation. look at education what will it be like for our children 10 years from now? If this trend continues America will be hosting 3rd world politics and lifestyles and freedoms will slowly diminish for those who are legally in our nation.

You bring up a valid point but enfrocement beyond what is happening today will impact the futre influx of illegals.

Well In Ca it is different, there are places that rent appts to anyone some do not require credit checks such as those in "sanctuary cities" often these Illegals will rent a home and there will be 3 families living under one roof, and Ca. Emergency rooms and usgent care clinics are Flooded with illegals who do not have Health Insurance.most times they go in for non emergency care. this cripples the states ability to provide affordable housing for legal residents / Citizens, currently state subsidized health care ( I believ eit is called Medical in CA.) is given to anyone with out proving citizenship or legal pressence. Also subsidized utility services such as phone and electricity assistance, one does not have to prove legal pressence to apply and receive such benefits. Often all they ahve to show is evidence they are receiving Medical whioch pre qualifies them to receive other state benefits.

These are areas that enforcement could be carried out. Impounding vehicles of illegal drivers immediatly selling them and putting the money toward paying for higher insurance costs is a way of enforcement. Once an arrest is made and it is dicovered illegal alien then immediate action towards deportation. not this BS of release for later trial date.

We all here know that enforcement will not work over night but there are keys areas that once enforcement begins it will make it very uncomfortable for illegal alines to remain here and live. It starts with enforcement at the employers who hire these Illegals, That also includes those who hire them as nannies or gardener workers. If we want a better future individuals have to stand up and support LEGAL Immigration by NOT hiring illegals themselves after all it is a Crime. of course police are not going to go and enforce door to door to the public who hire gardeners or Nanny who is illegal but maybe public assiatnce in recognizing this and enforcing it ourselves and reporting those who illegally hire Illegal Aliens.

I refuse to support Illegal Immigration willingly, I will Never willingly hire an illegal to do anything for me, I will Not tip or hire an illegal to help me move nor pay a moving company who employes illegals, I even went as far as asking our last moving company if their employees were legally employed. I will not go to a resturaunt who hire illegal aliens. I know my effrots will not have any effect on the plague that we face today but I can honestly say I am not a hypocryte and my actions support my words. I take a personal stand in my effort for a better futre for my children.

So instead support Criminal activity and close your eyes to those who disobey the law? So when are you going to post your address here and open your home to my entire family.

So if you knew one of your neighbors was selling drugs in their home you would not report that to the local law enforcement?

Illegal Immigration is NOT a victimless crime!

Not snitching doesn't = supporting.

Added to which:

Costs of the 'snitching hot lines'

Identifying legitimate 'snitching' and merely 'I don't like my neighbour so I'll claim he's illegal'

Not to mention stirring up racial hatred.

The list goes on...

Refusing to use the spellchick!

You seem to switch from rational dialogue to rhetoric of the most bogus nature which doesn't seem to even make sense, at least I am struggling to make any sense out of it.
