Yes so far as feeling like I'll go insane with one more day apart.

And yes it has come between us at times. In the roll of a single parent until he is home, I have a lot of responsiblity on my shoulders. This never was a problem in the past, but due to some other life changes where in the past I worked monday - friday 8 hour days and only drove 3 miles to work, I am now working 4 10 hour shifts a week, with a communte of 1 - 1.5 hours either way. Being a creature of routine the shift throws my entire life into disarray. Keeping up with all other aspects of being a single parent can be difficult at times with a non-routine shift. And then since we are not together, when I have any spare time whatsoever I feel I need to be at the computer and available for him and I have to admit sometimes I just want to take some time to just veg with nothing demanding my attention. As such there have been times when he wanted to visit and talk online, and I would crave rest yet feel guilty neglecting him and the stress levels would reduce me to tears.

It used to bother us a lot more the first few months. We used to think we wouldn't make it, that it was too long for anyone to take, that we'd screw it up at some point.

But after awhile we realized that everytime we had a rough time, we managed to overcome it..... so we'd overcome everything else.

Now we have a lot more fun and every day is a better day.... just because we know that anything that comes (or tries to come) between us will be resolved soon.

The distance still bothers us, of course. But we ended up learning that it's us against it, and not the distance putting us against each other.

OUR COMPLETE TIMELINE

Latest steps:

10/26/2006- Consulate receives case (seriously, one month to receive the case?? BS!), and packet 3 that I sent even before they had received the case.

01/23/2007- Second Interview. VISA granted!!!

01/29/2007- VISA arrived.... no envelope though. I'm gonna contact them and see what happened this time!

01/31/2007- I'll have to send them one last financial support evidence.

02/01/2007- Evidence sent

02/02/2007- Evidence received by Consulate

02/06/2007- Consulate sends envelope!

02/07/2007- Envelope received!!!

02/10/2007- Flew to the USA!!!!!!

04/17/2007- Wedding day!!!

yeah.

It's tough being apart. I think probably the toughest thing is when you've got an argument or some issue and you're both a little pissed off at each other: it's a little harder to make up from 5K miles away, becuase there's no hug and kiss.... or makeup sex. :P

It's just that right now I'm still hurt from my fall...so I'm feeling very high maintennance, so to speak. He's working hard to tie everyhting up & stuff, so he's feeling unappreciated.

I'm so sick of being alone, tho. It used to never bother me...in fact I kinda LIKED the distance from time to time. I liked my independance. I was the one who kept pushing off the wedding talk. But now that I said 'yes'...it's like I want him here yesterday, lol

Just tired of living vicariously thru a fcuking phone line. :crying: And I'm fcuking ill and I want my boo to take care of me, but he's too busy living a life....the nerve of him!

Most days I'm pretty much ok. Then there's those days or moments in a day when I get fed up and convinced I cannot possibly go another day without him. Yet, somehow I manage to get over it and move on with life. When those times come it's hard to imagine that things were ever ok or could be ok again. You just get caught up. Don't worry-it's normal. One day it will be over.

Don't let the sunshine spoil your rain...just stand up and COMPLAIN!

yes and yes

The longer we are apart, the more often we seem to argue. It's kinda funny when you think about it because we waste what little time we have to talk arguing about how we dont seem to be able to make enough time to talk.

Yes! It sucks being apart! We're together now, but a few months ago we were apart and it sucked a LOT!

Especially for things like when I'd have a bad day and REALLY need a hug...or to just curl up in his arms at night. I sometimes have very vivid nightmares, and it makes me feel sooo much better to snuggle in closer to him and have him hold me tightly...on nights when I was alone and would have a nightmare it would take me ages to fall back asleep!

Distance sucks, but you know what? I feel like being long-distance really helped us to learn how to effectively communicate, and really talk to one another.

Still tough, it sucked a whole lot and I'm so very glad and feeling so very blessed that we've got my greencard now.

To those still waiting -- you're all in my prayers that your visas/greencards will be in your hands soon so you can be with the one you love! :)

Oh, definitely. I miss doing normal, boring couple things like cooking dinner and watching TV. We use email and IM a lot, but eventually, we just run out of things to type. Sometimes a companionable silence, knowing that your partner is nearby, is such a great thing.

Right now I feel like each day is an AA meeting, you know, like their motto, "One day at a time".

Everyday I go, I survived today.
