The NHS may not be the best healthcare system in the world, but it sure as hell beats NO healthcare.

I have to totally agree here.

It did when I had to have an exploratory surgery 6 months after moving to the US. I was earning a basic hourly wage, and the wife was not only making half her current income but was saddled with large debt payments too.

Without insurance it would have cost $20,000. With insurance - it still cost $1000 in co-pays and submitted charges. And it wasn't like the care I received in the US was much different from what I would in the UK. In both cases the GP doctor was in the room for less than 5 minutes at a time.

I don't really see what's so bad about her ideals. No one is going to change the entire country and implement things that the majority of the people don't want. After 8 years with an embarrassment for a president, you'd think people would not be so picky. All these people against socialized medicine should go leave in a country that offers socialized health care- really, it's not that bad.

Bah. All of the presidential candidates are lousy.

I have a perfect solution to that problem though: vote me in as president.

Oh, c'mon now... I couldn't do a whole lot worse, right? At least I understand the difference between legal and illegal immigration, which is something American politicians -- both Democrat and Republican -- seem to have a difficult time comprehending.

I'm a former NYS resident, and a New Yorker at heart (I lived there for the first 19 years of my life...have to be!) and I will not vote for Hillary. A lot of people regretted voting for her when they saw how little she did and how she waffles on the issues. And if Guiliani becomes the Repub. candidate, 90% of the NY vote is going for him (okay maybe a bit of an exaggeration ) - NY is a democratic state, the city more so, and NYC LOVED him. Hell, I'd vote for him.

I'm a registered Dem but all the candidates at this point are weak. I like Obama but he's so green at this I think he's going to say too many stupid things and lose credibility. My husband, who can't vote because he's only a PR at this point, loves Edwards, but I think he's a closet slimeball - if it seems too good to be true, it probably is? And I HATE personal injury attorneys anyway...

Only good Repub hopeful that seems ok is Guiliani...
