I just learned from my BRILLIANT husband that he smoked weed in July. From everyone elses timeline it looks like our interview may be sometime in October, maybe November. Please, if anyone knows, what is the likelihood that it shows up during the medical, and if so a denial? He is not a regular smoker, says he has not since July, and before then he last smoked March of 2006. Someone please help.

Thanks

I think it can be detected up to 11 weeks depending on metabolism and how much was consumed and how often.

He claims only two times with a long period in between.

The last few people I have known, have quit a month before and were just fine. He needs to stay away from smoking and inhaling any fumes in an enclosed space, if possible. Oh, and I don't believe in "magic pills" to mask anything. That is my take on the whole thing.

:yes: Detection during the physical could cause serious problems.

He smoked in July. Interview is probably in October. If he steers clear, he will be fine.

A drug scree is part of the medical. And, yah, obviously you've never been to Jamaica.

I actually told Andr4 if he screwed up his part of the visa process for ANY reason, I would fly down there and kill him. I meant every word of it.

Well, personal attacks are one thing and should be dealt with accordingly. But, naysayers have their points and I think they should at least be considered.

In this case, I think he will be just fine.

More importantly, tell him to keep his eye on the prize. If he really wants this, he will do everything he has to, to accomplish the goal.

really? Is there a list somewhere showing which countries have drug screens and which don't? It's not part of the medical for Canadians. I'd be interested in seeing which countries require drug screens. Is it simply based on stereotypes or actual statistics?

I've never been and even though the American women that marry Jamaicans seem to be a little snarky I'd still like to get there someday.

Why do you think they take your blood, have you pee in a cup and answer questions about drug and alcohol use? It's not country based - drug use a visa ineligibility (with an exception for "one-time experimentation").
