I used to give money and then I decided upon food if say the person approached me outside a restaurant etc. After giving money once in college to a man who supposedly had car trouble and then seeing this same man with the same story about two weeks later, I decided to just pray when I saw them. For sure, God can help him/her better than I ever could and that is how I handle it.

We gave an elderly woman a few bucks once on the streets of Kazan' and, indeed, a few days later we had a good business deal come our way. Coincidence, maybe. I actually do give a dollar or so. I figure I can spare it and am thankful that I can. Once it leaves my hands it is theirs to use or abuse. The gift comes with no strings.
