Hi, i am helping my wife fill out the N-400 for her citizenship but i also know that her son who is 17 will follow her upon approval of citizenship. My question is where on form N-400 or if there is another form i have to do for the child to be included to follow his mother for citizenship?

Thanks in advance...

Pretty sure you would need to file n600 certificate of citizenship

Your post is unclear, so there are a few questions.  Is the son inside the U.S. as an LPR?  Will he be still under 18 when she takes her oath ceremony?

Echoing @MMRF's question as to where the 17yo is.

If he entered the US with his mother and she receives her citizenship before he turns 18, he will become a derivative citizen and the next move would be for her to get him a passport and then file an N-600 to get his Certificate of Citizenship.

If mom doesn't obtain citizenship until after her son turns 18, he will be responsible for meeting the requirements, filing his own N-400 and going through the process.

Both scenarios depend on when he became an LPR.

We are now filling out the n400 form so not sure if this will be all done before the end of the year when he turns 18

Son did a follow to join with mother 11 years ago and they both are here with me of course so i guess its a matter of it the wife gets citizenship and takes the oath before he turns 18. If it happens after he turns 18 then he will have to file his own n400 or extend his green card for another 10 years..

It really depends on your local field office.  As @mam521 stated if her N400 is complete and she takes her oath prior to his next birthday, then he can apply for a U.S. passport using her naturalization certificate, and then file an N600 to get his own certificate of citizenship.  If not, he will need to file a separate N400.  There is really nothing you can do now other than get her N400 in as soon as possible unless you think it is better for him to follow the N400 process, then you can delay her’s until he turns 18.

Good Luck!
