I received my NOA1 in August 18th 2025, which the USCIS status was Application was received. It has been 3 months and I haven't seen a difference in status or a message. My question is if the status still only says Application received does this mean that our application is just sitting there and nothing is happening? Thank you for your time.

Nothing's happening because you're just waiting your turn. The actual case processing doesn't take long at all once you get to the front of the line.

You shouldn't expect anything until you get approval, the only thing you'd get is an RFE and you don't want that!

It's normal not to have any change in status between NOA1 and NOA2.  Refer to the "Processing Times" page to know how long to expect.

Right now it's showing 228 days between NOA1 and NOA2.

It's literally just sitting there waiting to be acknowledged by someone. Right now USCIS says 80% of cases are done in 10 months (used to say 9 not too long ago). I got lucky when ours was approved a few weeks before the 9-month mark, and that was despite getting an RFE. They asked for a passport or long-form birth certificate copy, both letters of intent, and the page that confirms if you have a lawyer or not. 😅 be detailed especially if you’re not using a lawyer. Then once you’re approved, you get to enjoy another 60 days of silence while the NVC sits on it. This whole process just teaches you how to be patient and accept mediocrity as “normal.” 🤷‍♂️

Yes.  The US immigration process requires a great deal of knowledge, planning, time, patience, and a significant amount of money......emphasis on the patience.
