Good morning.

I am a US citizen by naturalization (not born in the US). My son, who is Canadian (born in Canada) has his interview scheduled at the US Consulate in Montreal, Canada in January. He was documentarily qualified in October 2025. The standard instructions for the US Consulate in Montreal for the interview as to what documents to bring, also state "Petitioner's Birth Certificate original and a copy", if applicable. I live in the US. He is in Canada. My question is: do I need to provide my original birth certificate (I was born in Pakistan) to him so he can take it with him to his interview in January? It doesnt make sense, since I was not born in the US. I will gladly send it to him, so he can have it with him and not need it, but if it is not needed, how do I confirm that?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
