Hi everyone. I and my spouse are about to start preparing her I-485 and her work permit. So far, we have had our joint bank account, her SSN, the exemplified marriage certificate and utility bills together. We got married a month ago. Please give us advice. Thank you so much!

Congratulations on your marriage!

Unless requirements have changed, you don't need much beyond the marriage certificate (send a copy, and save the original for your interview), the I-485 and other forms, and the fees.

Order several more copies of the MC for yourselves -- you'll probably need them.

Your other relationship evidence is a good start for removing conditions (ROC) on the green card.  It's never too early to think about that stage.  Take every piece of evidence physically coming in that indicates your shared life together, and throw it into a box.  Do the same thing digitally in a computer folder.  By ROC time, you'll have a smorgasbord of evidence to support the filing.

In addition, and as a priority, shop for a lawyer who can draft wills, medical & financial powers of attorney, and similar estate documents.  These make superlative evidence for ROC, and they're even more crucial to have in "life."  Remember that if you move from one U.S. state to another, your wills may need to be redone.

The lady at the courthouse said for immigration purposes, the exemplified marriage certificate is what I need. I am still confused whether I need certified marriage certificate vs exemplified one. Could anyone please let me know which one I need?

Still never heard of exemplified certificate. When my now wife and I married we went directly to court house to get certificate that was signed by officiant and we've not had any issues.

Exemplified certificate is one step above a certified certificate, typically for use in foreign countries when required.  Many people send a photocopy of the certified certificate.  Others (me included) sent the actual certified certificate and obtained an extra to keep.  Certified is as high as you needed to go but exemplified will work just as good.

The only worry is when USCIS is not familiar with certain docs, they may RFE. Certified copies is what they see day to day. Not sure about exemplified.

I would include it now with your I-130.  Joint bank statements and utility bills are both mentioned in the I-130 instructions.  I don't get why you would hold these for ROC, especially with the current administration.

The OP appears to be at AOS stage for his K-1 wife, so no I-130.  He can certainly include the extra information, but no one should get in trouble for interpreting the I-485 instructions literally and sending precisely what's asked for.

VNMH, please update your VJ timeline; it stops before visa-issuance.
