Two people have died and attacker also shot in synagogue attack, police confirm
Two people have died after a suspected terror attack outside a synagogue in Crumpsall by a man who was shot dead by police, Greater Manchester Police said.

The man believed to be the attacker was shot by Greater Manchester Police firearms officers and is also believed to be dead.

However, police said it cannot currently be confirmed due to safety issues related to “suspicious items on his person”. The bomb disposal unit has been called and is at the scene.

Three other people remain in a serious condition, police said in a statement.

Police declare Manchester synagogue attack 'terrorist incident'
Assistant commissioner Laurence Taylor, national head of counter-terrorism policing, says the attacker has been shot dead by the police and it believed counter-terrorism police know his idenity.

“Based on what we know, counter-terrorism police have declared this a terrorist incident,” he says at a press conference outside Scotland Yard in London.

There have been two additional arrests, he says.

Taylor says an attack on the Jewish community on Yom Kippur is “devastating” and says the police are “mobilising fast” to reassure the Jewish community across the country.

Meet the Syrian Migrant Named Jihad Who Killed Manchester Jews

 

No one grounded in reality will be shocked to discover the background of the terrorist who attacked a Manchester synagogue on Yom Kippur.

Jihad Al-Shamie, whom Greater Manchester Police describe as a "British citizen of Syrian descent," took his name so seriously that he decided to wage jihad ("holy war") on the congregants of Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue.  After all, Islamic sacred texts command the killing of Jews.  Jihad thought he was on his way to Paradise for running over and stabbing Jews, so he was in for a fiery surprise after law enforcement shot him.

The police tentatively identified the killer as Al-Shamie but noted that other individuals were also in custody in connection with the ongoing investigation.  The police were also, of course, reluctant to admit that there could be any obvious motivation for a Syrian to attack a synagogue.  What a mystery.  [...]

UK Prosecutes Synagogue For Provoking Attacker By Being Openly Jewish

 

MANCHESTER — The Crown Prosecution Service announced that charges had been filed against a Jewish synagogue on Thursday for provoking a violent terrorist attack against themselves by being openly Jewish.

A synagogue located in Manchester was the site of a deadly attack last week in which two people were killed and three others were injured.  Authorities were acting quickly to punish those involved, including the synagogue and its members, for being openly Jewish.

"We have a zero tolerance policy for violent stabbing offenses," said Crown Prosecutor Henry Thomas.  "That's why we have to punish these Jews for being so Jewish.  It just incites more stabbings."  [...]
