USCIS Cashed $2070 yesterday, namely for I-485 and I-131. We received a text message with the case numbers and waiting for the letters.

I-765 EAD $260 was not cashed and no information about the case yet. I assume a different department within USCIS or something.

What eligibility category did you indicate on the I-765? C09 ?

Did you send I-765 together with I-485? Did you have separate checks for them?

I sent them together but I did not have separate checks. I figured that part out after some research. I am guessing that is why they rejected it?

Got a reply from USCIS. Apparantly I had a double whammy and they only told me one.

I will have to wait for a second rejection to file.

First issue: Not a separate filing fee form

Second issue: They update the form in January and I used the one from August last year.

Waiting on the rejection letter to add the required page but prepared all "correctly" This time.

Note: Turns out I was also sending to the wrong lockbox not belonging to my state :D. I need my glasses more often than I thought.

Finally got ours submitted. Overnighted it to Chicago on saturday, it got there tuesday and today my husband got a text with a tracking number saying they got our application on the 20th.

My i94 expires on the 26th so that was close, but it thankfully worked out. We ended up getting delayed because of paperwork.

I see in your timeline you submitted only I-485. Did you not submit I-131 to extend his status? Doesn't your husband want a work permit hence file I-765 as well?

What does this mean?  An I-131 is a travel document form.  It doesn't extend legal status.

I think the husband is the US citizen.

We decided to just apply for the i-485 since I am homeschooling and can’t drive so I won’t be working, at least not for a while. And my husband is the american citizen. :)

I may have misunderstood who is the applicant.  I-131 is not just a travel document but also a parole document and documentation access document.

I have been advised that currently USCIS do not necessarily extend your status based on pending application including for family based immigration and was advised that submitting I-131 is advisable to get a parole in place in the US even if your status expire under K-1 visa on the I-94 as you are technically without status as soon as you got married.

This is mainly to avoid any unwanted flags with ICE.

I don't think it can be used as you describe.  Please tell me which category on the form, Part 1 (application type), fits the situation of a person who entered via a K-1.  Your receipt for a proper I-485 already grants the applicant authorized stay in the US until the I-485 is adjudicated.  Yes, you are out of status after 90 days (via a K-1), but not accruing unlawful presence.
