Know this is a long shot as I haven't noticed many VJers in AL, but wondering if there is anyone out there who went through AOS here? If there's anyone, what was your timeline?

I know I just need to be patient but my case filing is still sitting at 32 months and it's so disheartening considering the accepted average of 6 to 8...

Been here since Jan, married in Feb, filed in April, biometrics in May. Sweet nothing since.

You filed about 5 months ago, correct?

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

It has only been 5 months since you filed though? Which is below the average wait time of 6-8 months that you quoted. Also I wouldn't take any notice of the USCIS timeline estimation.

If you go to the Processing Times section on VJ and then Adjustment of Status Processing times, you can then filter by K1 Visa, the relevant USCIS Field Office, etc (or filter the data how you want) and see if there are any recent timelines on there for your Field Office and see if you can determine an average from when the AOS was filed and when they got a decision.

and the average I-485 processing time as reported by other VJ members (all field offices) is about 223 days.

Yeah, filed 5 months ago, but I've seen people here who filed around the same time go through it all so much quicker. Maybe it's just luck. I know I'm technically within the average still, but it just makes me feel like something is wrong.

Maybe being on VJ so much and reading other people's timelines is skewing my expectations.

The fast processing is just USCIS pulling some applications off of the top of the pile to keep their "Average Time" from going too high. Comparing yourself to other's cases will only drive you crazy. Believe me I know :) Having filed last November and watching folks who filed in March reporting getting interviews a couple of months later was hard. But I got to thinking and realized that there are many more people out there who don't chat about their cases who were probably in the same boat as us. Right now, for April there are close to 2x as many people still "Processing" as there are either approved or with interviews pending (Approx. 40k processing vs. approx. 20k approved or interview scheduled). I know it's so very hard but you need to set your expectations that you may not get movement for a year after filing and then if it comes sooner, so much the better and a nice surprise. Maybe focus away from the process for a while and find something that give you a little joy and happiness. That's what Jaycel did after a while of torturing herself until the process played out and we got the interview. I hope this helps a little :)

Unfortunately, there is more waiting than any of us want in every phase of the journey.  Now, that every AOS receives an interview, I would expect the average processing time to increase.  There isn't much we can do except to continue learning about the next phase.

100% and also now that an interview is mandatory, so much is dependant on the local field office

We're in Alabama too. You should be happy you got your work authorization, since my wife still hasn't got hers. But yea, the VJ average is like 6 to 8 months right now, so, since we all applied around the same time, around October is the earliest either of us should expect our cases to be scheduled.
