They might have had something like this in mind.  Police in Jakarta would be aware of these.  Maybe they just dont read English and weren't paying attention during training.

  • October 08, 2021: Paid Immigrant Fee
  • October 12, 2021: Temporary CFO Certificates Received
  • October 26, 2021 POE arrival at LAX
  • November 02, 2021 Social Security Cards arrive in mail
  • January 31, 2022: USCIS Status changed to "Card Is Being Produced"
  • February 04, 2022: USCIS Status changed to "Card Was Mailed To Me"
  • February 07, 2022: Green cards received.

Even on domestic trips, I've used my regular passport as ID, because it's easier than hastily fumbling to get my driver's license from my wallet and (it's hoped) putting it back in.  On my most recent trip, I used my Global Entry card.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I don't typically carry regular passport on domestic trips. This is the first time I used passport card to fly. Typically showed California Real ID DL.

 

GE card is interesting, I have one too, maybe will start a thread on that 😃

It stands to reason that the passport card would work with TSA, because a regular passport does.

A GE thread would be interesting.

The Global Entry/Nexus/Sentri cards are all similar (I think all literally the same card design just with the program name at the top printed differently) and are all federal photo ID. I try and use mine as much as I can for the same reason as @OldUser, I don't want to let stores scan all the data on my DL. I use my Nexus card as ID for alcohol at stores and bars, and I've never been denied, but I've gotten various push back from cashiers who would rather scan an ID than type in numbers. Kroger/Fred Meyer especially now requires a manager override to enter the birthdate manually, so they really, really want to scan your ID. Kroger is also known to store, track, and sell your personal information as a data broker, so that's a big NO from me! 

 

It's also the card I always use for TSA, and there I had it rejected once as the person checking IDs claimed the photo was too bad to use (no one else has ever complained, so I think that was BS).

 

In short, yes, start a thread!

Most likely, I'll keep using Palau Digital Resident ID and US passport card, but occasionally try GE card.

It's said that if you awaken in the morning, look in the mirror, and precisely resemble your driver's license photo, you KNOW you're hung over.  :P
