don't worry about the speeding tickets (assuming they are all dealt with by paying fines). You can expect questions about the shoplifting. I doubt very much the previous marriage will be much of an issue either (you are no longer a conditional resident so your relationship status is not important).

Bring everything you have (left) with you just in case they want to see something.

Answer all questions truthfully and when it comes to legal stuff I would mention the speeding tickets.

Most likely they will let you change your mind on the name change. Like mentioned before name change automatically leads to a ceremony with a judge.

Can I choose to NOT TO CHANGE name during interview and go with same day OATH if possible? I have very limited PTO left and my director already pissed on me for my month recent long vacation. I do not wanna make too frequent time off requests

I was able to choose during the interview, yes. So I skipped the name-change and took the oath 2 hours after my interview

Hello folks, finally got my interview letter for N400. I filed on 5 years rule though I am a LPR for 9 years. Removed condition in 2024 October with Good faith marriage waiver. I have few questions if you guys can help with:

1. I have 5 traffic citations back from 2015 to 2022 where all were speeding violations and have been paid off. I do not have any court docs for them. I disclosed them in N400. Do I have to get any dismissal paper or court docs for them?

2. I was divorced from 2017 to 2021 with my ex wife through whom I got GC. I got married in 2021 and mentioned everything in N400. Do I have to take Naturalization certificate of ex spouse, divorce decree and 2nd marriage certificate? My perception was since the condition was approved so the GC will be sufficient.

3. I was arrested in 2015 (10 years ago) for charge of shoplifting under value 100 but later the case got dismissed without conviction for me and my accompanying friend actually got convicted. But we both were arrested initially. I have court dismissal docs for this case. But just worried if this will bar me from naturalization or not. I got my conditional GC and later removed condition after that event though.

4. My initial understanding was- I need to take interview letter, my original GC, current and previous passports, 3 years tax documents, and shoplifting arrest dismissal paper. Do I have to add any further document for the interview? Or am I missing anything?

5. I heard a lot of times interview and oath ceremony happen same day on the USICS site. I have small name change request. Any chance for same day oath if my case gets approved? I am an Orlando, FL filer.

Congratulations 🎉 🎉 🎉

Folks, it is getting quite frightening here. Recently I have been reading all crazy posts in reddit that ICE at interview, Stripping naturalization, criminal offense and taking back GC etc. I had a spotless life and for real I never had any crime history on my life record except for one in 2015 for shoplifting charge which was even a complete misunderstanding and possibly an overreaction from a dumb supervisor. I am now scared if they do anything for that 10 years old case even though it was dismissed and NO conviction. Also I got 5-6 speeding tickets during 2016-2019 coz I was driving uber part time while I was in school. I am feeling now a #######. My all traffic tickets were paid but I do not have court docs. I am worried if they issue RFE after interview to send those court docs. Feeling like in complete nightmare.

I'm really sorry, but I disagree with spotless definition, as you mentioned:

Your case is NOT squeaky clean in my opinion.

At the same time, would you be detained or deported or denied citizenship?

Probably not, these are not issues that result in denial of citizenship typically.

Most likely, you'll naturalize just fine.

Good luck!

I think you are right; I can’t claim that. But one more issue popped up- My 2nd marriage. In my i751 I mentioned divorce due to 1st marriage dissolution. Now wondering if that comes up as an issue. I filed in 2018 for ROC and got married in 2021. ROC interviewing officer did not ask anything about marriage in 2024. Not sure how it will be taken in naturalization interview

You need marriage cert for most recent marriage if you're still married. Or divorce certificate. Yes, you may get asked questions. Just be ready to answer them.
