Hello,

my dad is an F4 visa applicant and we’re Iranian. Currently Iranians aren’t allowed to get visas due to the travel ban. However we just received an email from the US embassy in Ankara telling us our interview is scheduled for August 25th. What is the best course of action for us? Should we attend the interview or ask for a rescheduling? I know if we attend the interview we’ll get refused with 212(f) but I want to know if our case can be activated again after the travel ban is lifted in 3-4 years even though we got refused? And realistically how many times can we ask embassy to reschedule our interview?

Thank you for replying. Is there a possibility that we’ll get rejected and won’t get our visas after the ban is lifted if the only problem is the travel ban and everything else is fine?

I haven’t aged out since my CSPA age is under 21 and the embassy listed me as one of the applicants who needs to be present at interview.

Even if there wasn't a ban in place, you couldn't assume your visas would be issued after interview. It's always possible that you can be rejected after Admin Processing is done after the interview, the ban makes no difference to that.

Once the visa is issued and in hand, then you know you're good.

So the best thing we can do is attend the interview? Should I mention the possibility of AP or a waiver to the officer during the interview or it’s better if we don’t say anything about that and the travel ban?

I would personally. A waiver for what?

You will almost certainly face AP/Refused status so no reason to bring that up as the CO will do it (Note:  "Refused" does not mean "Rejected" or "Denied", it is a status the consulates use for cases that are waiting information, but the case is still active).  Not sure what you are talking about relative to a waiver.

Good Luck!

Thank you so much for all the insight.

I thought there would be possible waivers as there were during the last travel ban but now I understand we don’t qualify for them and hopefully we’ll get into AP for the time being until the ban is lifted.

If there are any waiver opportunities, the CO will discuss those at the interview.

Good Luck!
