I have been having some trouble determining whether or not we need to do another medical exam. Some articles say yes and some don't.

My husband arrived on the K-1 Visa Jan 2025, His medical exam was taken in September of 2024. He was given a few vaccines that he was not up-to-date on, but everything else was clear. We also do NOT have records of the exams, other than the emails I received from the clinics. We could absolutely obtain a copy of these if we called them as well (from Costa Rica). But my husband said the immigration officer took the entire packet and he did not receive anything back (which as I read more posts, seems normal).

Any articles or help would be greatly appreciated!

He does not have a copy of the DS2035?  If his vaccines were complete when he had his medical exam, you should not need a new I693.  I would submit the AOS package ASAP without a new medical exam (I693), and see if you can get a copy of the DS-2035 from the location of the medical exam performed in Costa Rica, and if for some reason the DS2035 is marked as "Incomplete", he may be requested to get it completed prior to the finalization of the AOS.

Good Luck!

If you can get a copy of the DS-3025 (Vaccination Documentation Worksheet) scanned and emailed to you quickly then do it (They are required to give this to you at the end of the immigration medical exam) Then look at the back of the form and see if the box "K Visa applicant voluntarily completed vaccination requirements" is checked and the form is complete, you should be good. If you can get it quickly, file a copy of that DS-3025 with your I-485 as a reminder to the Adjudicating Officer to look for the medical report in your A-File. If you can't get a copy quickly, don't delay your filing of the AOS packet waiting for it. They should see that you are adjusting from a K-1 visa and know to look for your medical. The copy of the DS-3025 is a good reminder to them to do that but isn't required in order to file.

It looks like he did have it lol. I am viewing the documents now and see the box on the back was left Unchecked. It does state that he passed the exam and the rest of the form is completed and signed. I requested a copy of our A-file through USCIS, but it says estimated delivery by 5/27 and I want to file before. Without the check on the "K Visa applicant voluntarily completed vaccination requirements" box, will there be an issue when I include this in the AOS package? Thank you so much!

You may get an RFE for uncompleted vaccinations. I would file with what you have and see what they ask for. They should not reject you at the lockbox because you completed the medical exam abroad and it's important to get the package filed.

I agree, I would file it with what you have.  You can then search for a civil surgeon and try and get the vaccines completed to respond to an RFEs or take with you to the interview.  Most civil surgeon's will require an entire new physical exam, but YMMV.

Good Luck!

He has all vaccinations complete, so that shouldn't be an issue. I had just read in a few places that you need to file a medical exam here in the US. But our medical exam abroad was within the past year so hopefully it isnt an issue. Thank you everyone!

Only if your medical exam abroad was conducted more than 12 months prior to your filing the I-485. You are good to file. Just include the copy of the DS-3025 in with it.

I am the petitioner for my now husband, k-1 applicant. We are now filing AOS. I know I need to fill out one affidavit, and since I do not meet income requirements, we will have a joint sponsor. For MY affidavit, I chose 1e (because we have to have a joint sponsor). Now im thinking I need to check 1a, and our joint sponsor would check 1d. Is this correct?

in addition, as our joint sponsor is married and filing jointly, his wife would need to fill out the I-864a, even though she is not working, correct?

Hi,

My now husband and I are filing for AOS from K1 and after reading a few threads in here about the “applicant voluntarily completed vaccinations” box on the back of the form.
my husband had a few vaccinations he was required to get before completing the medical exam. He got those vaccines and received the form. This box is NOT CHECKED. What does this mean? Is this an error of the doc?

File the AOS with what you have and include a copy of the DS3025.  Worst case, an RFE is issued to complete the DS3025, but that will most likely require a new complete medical exam by a civil surgeon.
