Dina failed her interview as she did not have my original divorce decree. She had a scanned copy. What makes an original an original? Is it the seal??

Dina also mentioned when the interviewer scratched the signature of the judge with his fingernail, that's when things ended.

I can't say for sure what I have is an authentic signature. What it does have is a state seal that's bumpy like what a notary uses. I would hope that

proves authenticity.

Usually on a certified copy of a divorce decree it's either a raised embossed seal or an ink stamp seal and signature from the court clerk or other official certifying it is a true copy.  It's the certification of the copy that must be original.

Since you list Honolulu as a locality,  there is a LBC office there and that will be the fastest, cheapest, most certain way to get an original document delivered to the Philippines.

No one can get the original of any civic document as the original is always kept by the issuing agency.  this is one of my pet peeve's when it is requested that someone provide the "original" of something like a divorce decree, birth certificate, etc.  It is simply not possible to get the original, but rather only a certified copy by the issuing agency.  The issue here as @top_secret stated, is that the consulate wants that certified copy with the stamp/embossing, and not a copy of it.

Good Luck!

LBC or DHL?

LBC is certainly cheapest and has extensive logistics on the ground in the Philippines.  It would be my first choice. We've had them deliver documents in 4 days before.  DHL would be the choice if LBC wasn't an option.   We had problems with UPS Express before in the Philippines and would not recommend.  No experience with FedEx.

I have a stamped and sealed copy. LBC has an office in Kahului. LBC or DHL?

Like I said above, I don't think LBC does air freight there in Maui, only BB box and remittance. My friend in Maui had to send me something to ship via air at the Honolulu LBC. That may have changed, you would need to check. 2nd choice would definitely be DHL.

My fiance had a similar situation.  She had a copy of her birth certificate and was rejected by the Embassy staff (a Philipino Ladyboy).  Fortunately she had an original "copy" at the hotel just across Roxas Street. The Ladyboy was great and let her come back with the original and she was approved same day.

I'm curious as to why ladyboy is such a thing for you. You even use an uppercase 'l'. Sounds like you got some issues beyond flawed grammar... In any case, on to more important things..

Nope - LBC Kahului only does boxes, Buzzed over to DHL. $137 later, my raised bumpy sealed divorce decree and for kicks my original birth certificate landed in Honolulu yesterday and should be in Dina's grubs in a week. She's already talking to the interview goddess about helping her secure a second interview.
