I-797C - ASC Appointment Notice

I've been in the U.S. for about two months now, and I still await my physical Green Card to be mailed to me, (all paid for in advance). I obtained my Immigrant Visa (IR1) in London and have the two stamps in my passport from CBP when I actually arrived into the U.S. at the Port of Entry 

I've now received a form I-797C Notice of Action for a biometrics, (Application Support Center - ASC) appointment. It askes that I bring the appointment letter, Applicant's Information Worksheet, (AIW), together with photo ID, (will take my British passport with I-551 stamps and Immigrant Visa).

I'm not sure why I have this notice and would be grateful to anyone who may have experienced this, or anyone that may know the reason why. Thank you.

This happens from time to time.  Your fingerprints are probably unclear.  I wouldn't worry about it.  Our experience with biometrics is that it was a fast process.

Thanks... Thinking about it, I'm not sure if they had actually taken my fingers prints at the POE. Maybe they only rely on the U.S. Embassy for those.

This may be the reason... They want to make sure that the person who entered the country on the IR-1 visa issued to you is actually you and so they want to match your fingerprints now to the ones you gave the embassy at the interview

There's an issue with the quality of the biometrics on file.  No worries.

After you paid the fees for your green card processing, did you get a receipt number? You can use that number to check the status of your green card.
